Position Overview:
The Senior Accountant- Inventory is a member of the Finance team and reports to the Accounting Manager. The role’s primary responsibility is to support inventory back office operations and to ensure financial goals are achieved while maintaining overall company initiatives. All below responsibilities are for specific categories owned.
Responsibilities:
General
• Perform all inventory related month end accounting close activities
• Work with cross functional teams such as Retail Operations, Distribution Center, and Sourcing teams on a daily basis
• Provide ad hoc analysis and reporting as needed
• Prepare monthly department expense and financial files to distribute to department heads to assist in decision making
Inventory
• Monitor and review all inventory transactions across 75+ retail stores, e-commerce and distribution center
• Reconcile inventory transactions between Retail POS system and Financial ERP system
• Calculate month end accruals for inventory related activities including in-transit inventory, return and markdown allowance, inventory reserves etc.
• Allocate Cost of Goods Sold expense for freight, customs, sourcing agent and packaging expense
• Analyze month over month inventory and Cost of Goods Sold variances for all channels by GL account, SKU and product category
• Prepare monthly cycle count and scrap reporting for review with Retail, Distribution Center and Quality teams
• Coordinate annual Physical Inventory execution, booking and reporting for all channels
• Partner with Product Development team to book quarterly standard cost updates and impacts
• Process inventory invoices by performing 3-way match between purchase order, receipt and invoice
• Prepare and coordinate weekly inventory wire payment to suppliers with Accounts Payable team
• Collaborate with operations teams to investigate and resolve any inventory related issues
Lease Support
• Work closely with the Lease Administrator to review monthly rent payments and coordinate monthly rent check run with Accounts Payable team
• Reconcile and book Lease related entries each month including Percentage Rent, Prepaid Rent, and Base Rent expense
• Prepare Tenant Improvement packets to send to landlords for reimbursement of construction expenses
• Support Accounting Manager with other ad hoc requests
Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:
• 4 Year College degree required; B.S. Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
• 5+ years of experience with cost accounting and inventory experience
• Ability and desire to proactively support cross-functional teams
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and follow up
• High level of experience using Excel and other tools to analyze data
• Experience posting journal entries
