Position Overview:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Tax Senior to join our Finance team at Kendra Scott! This position requires a hands-on, self-starter to be responsible for all things tax, including tax compliance, planning, research and accounting. Our ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to problem solve and multi-task, as well as work effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
Responsibilities:
• Compile information for and review federal and state income tax returns and annual income tax provision prepared by accounting firm
• Prepare monthly tax accruals, rollforwards and reconciliations
• Work closely with the Accounting and Finance teams to gather the information required for tax compliance work and ongoing tax planning
• Facilitate and review the monthly multi-state sales and use tax returns, prepared by an external vendor
• Work with external vendor to coordinate property tax filings and payments
• Respond to internal tax related questions from the organization
• Respond to tax related correspondence and notices from federal, state and local taxing authorities
• Manage tax audits and related information requests
• Research technical tax topics and communicate findings as needed
• Manage unclaimed property filings in coordination with internal and external partners
• Monitor tax law changes and determine the impact to the company
• Report company information to US Department of Commerce on a monthly and annual basis
• Communicate complex concepts in ways that are meaningful and useful to non-tax professionals
• Determine nexus requirements in new locations and assist with registration and ongoing licensing
• Manage special tax projects as needed
• Implements plans to achieve departmental priorities
• Seeks to understand and support broader company objectives
• May guide others
Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 3+ years prior experience in public accounting or corporate environment
• CPA certification preferred
• A proven ability to execute with consistent delivery and reprioritize based on evolving business needs
• Experience preparing individual, business and multi-state tax returns
• Sales and use tax experience preferred
• International taxation experience preferred
• Strong accounting, analytical and organizational skills
• Strong computer skills with advanced proficiency in MS Excel
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
• Detail oriented and ability to multi-task
• A strong ability to build cross functional partnerships and work collaboratively
• A growth mindset: desire to learn, grow and embrace new ideas
