Position at HotSchedules

 

Responsibility as a Full Stack Software Engineer:

Reporting to the Director of Engineering the Full Stack Software Engineer will help develop for HotSchedules' premiere web-based scheduling, labor management, and forecasting product. Work with Product Management and UX engineers to implement new features per requirements. Develop appropriate unit tests for new feature development and work with QA engineers to define test cases. Participate in agile Scrum process for work estimation, collaboration, daily standups, and feature demos.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Strong Java programming knowledge with a demonstrated ability to write high performance and efficient code.  We use Java 8.
  • Three or more years Java web-based / SaaS application product development in an Agile environment.
  • Three or more years JDBC and SQL development.
  • Strong knowledge of web technologies including CSS, HTML, and JavaScript (we use React).
  • Experience with an MVC framework such as Struts or Spring.
  • Solid understanding of source control systems such as SVN and concepts such as branching, merging and reverting.
  • Knowledge of defect tracking or customer issue tracking systems.

Experience with the following is a plus:

  • High tech or restaurant industry experience
  • Agile Development process
  • Mobile development
  • Amazon EC2
  • API development

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years developing Java web-based applications.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, as well as excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Relocation is not offered for this role so Austin candidates will be given priority.
  • Must be able to work in the US without visa sponsorship.
