Communications Specialist – Austin, TX

The Internal Communications Specialist sits within the HR team and produces communications at the executive and employee level. The ideal candidate has a passion for creating actionable, results-driven communications mapped to program objectives; is extremely detail-oriented, possesses excellent project management skills, and has experience editing strategic employee marketing communications materials from a finance & technology perspective for a wide variety of purposes.
Candidate must be digitally savvy, enjoy managing multiple assignments at one time, have experience managing creative development, possess excellent interpersonal and writing skills and be able to handle significant autonomy and responsibility.
Responsibilities:

  • Serve as project manager/editor of monthly employee newsletter
  • Partner with leadership in Human Capital, Marketing and the executive leadership team to develop and manage an employee communications calendar
  • Manage and curate newsletter submissions, employee communications (benefits enrollment, employee events, employee referral campaigns, birthday announcements, etc)
  • Lead and/or participate in project meetings for town halls, organizational updates, new executive onboarding, etc while proactively and openly articulate ideas and concerns with both stakeholders
  • Advise and recommends effective communication approaches
  • Provide ongoing reader engagement analysis and message optimization across Amherst

Requirements:

  • Ability to work well under deadlines and with a cross-functional to accomplish results
  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience; including strong internship experiences
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, some requiring cross-functional resources and cross departments/divisions to produce the most effective corporate communications
  • Prior skills at creating/utilizing email templates and/or communications technology like Constant Contact, MailChimp, Bronto, SendinBlue, etc
  • Ability to work well under deadlines and with a cross-functional team to accomplish results
  • Effective time management and organization skills
  • Self-starter, able to initiate and lead projects
  • Strong attention to detail and standard of quality
