The Head of Employee Engagement & Inclusion is a unique role designed to drive employee engagement for a company that is growing fast and disrupting a massive industry. This individual will be responsible for defining and executing strategies that can articulate and embed our employee value proposition and culture throughout the organization. The role reports directly to the Chief People Officer. The ideal candidate would be based in New York, although other locations can be considered if the candidate is willing to travel.

This role is remote optional until April 4, 2022, we are looking to speak to candidates who plan to be available in New York City, Austin, San Fransisco or Palo Alto for when we introduce our hybrid model.

Role Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the unique employee perspectives across all levels, functions and regions of our organization through “active listening” tools, including engagement surveys
  • Maintain a pulse on the full-spectrum of experiences and moments that matter across our employee lifecycle and how they impact engagement
  • Use inherent expertise in various facets of HR to create and implement storytelling strategies that promote and achieve high engagement and a thriving culture in partnership with other departments within the People Team including Learning & Development, Rewards, Employee Experience and HR Business Partnering
  • Work closely with the Talent Acquisition team to ensure engagement strategies are embedded in recruitment strategy for a seamless candidate and employee experience
  • Partner with Internal Communications to drive an effective storytelling strategy that celebrates and showcases MongoDB values, articulates the “why” behind everything we do in support of employees and helps to improve the flow of communication and resources to our managers as they play an increasingly important role as custodians of engagement and development for their teams
  • Oversee our Inclusion agenda as well as Affinity Group Program Management as a key driver of employee engagement
  • Partner with the CPO and HRBPs of various Business Units to define company-wide and/or BU-specific action plans

We’re looking for someone with

  • 10+ years of well rounded HR Experience including at least 5 years of senior HR business partnering experience and a formal stint or substantial experience in Leadership Development, Organizational Development/Effectiveness or Diversity & Inclusion
  • Exceptional active listening skills - the ability to hear and represent multiple, sometimes polarizing points of view, with equal intent 
  • Energy & empathy needed to be able to engage with employees across levels, roles  & geographies 
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills - this role is all about storytelling 
  • Global experience dealing with multiple cultures, distributed global teams and diverse working models (remote, flexible, in office) is highly desired
  • Ability to recommend and influence a course of action in partnership with multiple peers who own various facets of the People function at MongoDB
  • Adaptability & learning curve needed to operate in the fast-paced high growth environment at MongoDB as well as the ever-evolving external environment
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to be able to take complex pieces of work forward with speed
