The Role:
We are looking for a meticulous Payroll Specialist to support the payroll operations of the People team that supports Cart.com's people and Cart.com's success as a company.
This newly created role will be responsible for the People Payroll day-to-day duties that drive the implementation of solutions and strategies that ensure results and make an impact. This person will primarily support the execution of our Payroll roadmap that will result in automation, standardization, and centralization of HR processes and systems. We are looking for someone who can wear many hats - payroll analyst and subject matter expert, reporting guru, and excel wizard - and knows what hat to put on before having to be asked to do it.

What You'll Do:
In partnership with the wider People team, execute and iterate on the Payroll Operations roadmap that will result in automation, standardization, and centralization of HR processes and systems.
Payroll:

  • Perform the collection, calculation, and entering of payroll data.
  • Address employee questions/concerns relative to pay and time and attendance.
  • Update payroll records and prepare payroll reports.
  • Address and resolve time and attendance discrepancies, outstanding timesheet approvals and time off request answers, and meal and rest break penalties with managers and employees to ensure compliance with company policies and employment laws.
  • Manage administration of payroll tax accounts, filings, and new account openings.
  • Contribute to the development and documentation of repeatable and scalable payroll processes and employee-facing guidelines and procedures.
  • Work with Accounting to maintain accurate job costing records in time and attendance for work billable to clients.
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.


Administration:

  • Produce and analyze employee data reports
  • Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of human resource records, forms, files, and policies.


Employee Experience:

  • Maintain knowledge of payroll trends, best practices, regulatory changes
  • Assist employees with general People Payroll questions and ensure exceptional customer service.
  • Support employee onboarding and offboarding processes and support coordination


Who You Are:

  • You have strong business acumen with ability to partner and collaborate with HR colleagues, functional specialists and internal clients.
  • You have functional knowledge of federal and state employment laws and compliance.
  • You possess solid time-management, prioritization, written and verbal communication skills.
  • You are able to maintain strict confidentiality, establish trust and credibility and act with complete integrity; aptitude and proven ability to resolve conflicts creatively and collaboratively.
  • You are able to work well independently AND collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment and work through ambiguity
  • You consider yourself highly detail-oriented and organized.


What You've Done:

  • You have 5+ years' of progressive payroll experience in a dynamic, fast-paced, rapidly growing environment.
  • You have experience using a variety of HR and business technology - e.g. HRIS, ATS, Payroll systems, Time and Attendance systems, Slack, Office 365.
  • You have payroll and compliance experience.


Nice to Haves:

  • You have a bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or related field.
  • You have experience in a People Operations role in the tech industry, ideally having observed M&A integrations.
  • You have experience working in a rapidly-scaling startup.
  • You have helped scale a People function from the ground up in a small-medium-sized company (i.e. 15-100 employees).
  • You have Working knowledge of employment laws and compliance in all U.S. states.
  • You have Knowledge of Workday

Our headquarters is located in Austin, Tx at the address listed. The majority of our roles are flexible hybrid for employees who live within the cities where we have offices and remote for employees who are not located in those cities.
