We are looking for a meticulous People Operations Specialist to support the operations of the People team that service Cart.com’s people and Cart.com’s success as a company. Cart.com is growing quickly, and we are looking for someone who can grow with us.


This newly created role will be responsible for the People Operations day-to-day duties that drive the implementation of solutions and strategies that ensure results and make an impact. This person will primarily support the execution of our People Operations roadmap that will result in automation, standardization, and centralization of HR processes and systems. We are looking for someone who can wear many hats – payroll administrator and analyst, HR systems and compliance specialist, and reporting guru – and knows what hat to put on before having to be asked to do it.

Responsibilities:

  • In partnership with the wider People team, execute and iterate on the People Operations roadmap that will result in automation, standardization, and centralization of HR processes and systems. 

  • Payroll: 
  • Perform payroll duties and address employee questions/concerns relative to pay. 
  • Review and verify timesheets to ensure compliance with company policies and employment laws. 
  • Manage administration of payroll tax accounts, filings, and new account openings

  • Administration:
  • Support M&A efforts including the integration of newly acquired companies into company systems and processes.
  • Work with our PEO to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. 
  • Produce and analyze employee data reports
  • Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of human resource records, forms, files, and policies. 

  • Employee Experience 
  • Assist employees with general People Operations questions and ensuring exceptional customer service. 
  • Support employee onboarding and off-boarding coordination. 
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources and employment law. 

Experience:

  • 2+ years of progressing HR experience in a dynamic, fast-paced, rapidly growing environment.
  • Strong business acumen and HR experience with ability to partner and collaborate with HR colleagues, functional specialists and internal clients.
  • Experience using a variety of HR and business technology – e.g. HRIS, ATS, Payroll systems, Time and Attendance systems, Slack, Office 365 
  • Payroll and compliance experience. 
  • Functional knowledge of Texas employment laws and compliance
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, establish trust and credibility and act with complete integrity; aptitude and proven ability to resolve conflicts creatively and collaboratively.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and work through ambiguity 
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized. 
  • Solid time-management, prioritization, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well independently AND collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team. 

Bonus Points:

  • Bachelor's in Human Resources, Business, or related field. 
  • Experience with PEO’s such as Insperity. 
  • Working knowledge of laws in multiple US states, ideally California 
  • Experience in a People Operations role in the tech industry, ideally having observed M&A integrations 
  • Experience working in a rapidly-scaling startup 
  • You have helped scale a People function from the ground up in a small-medium-sized company (i.e. 15-100 employees).

Our headquarters is located in Austin, Tx at the address listed. The majority of our roles are flexible hybrid for employees who live within the cities where we have offices and remote for employees who are not located in those cities.
