Responsible for planning, developing, implementing, administering, and maintaining compensation programs within our technology department, that support the company’s Total Rewards philosophy, objectives, competitive position, and local practices. Participates in compensation surveys and ensures global application of competitive pay practices. Evaluates programs, trends, and / or new technologies. Recommends changes and improvements based on trends and / or new technologies. Formulates recommendations regarding development of the company’s salary structure, FLSA exemptions, job revisions, and organizational structures. Reviews existing and proposed statutory requirements governing compensation administration and recommends appropriate courses of action.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads the design and development of compensation programs and projects for our technology department.
  • Provides complex data analyses, graphics, and statistical reports in support of plan design to solve current business issues.
  • Engages with HR and Business partners, leadership, and Team Members on design of compensation philosophy, policy, and procedures within technology.
  • Engages with technology leadership to develop new compensation or Total Rewards guidelines or propose updates to current guidelines.
  • Ensures compensation guidelines facilitate competitive, equitable, and cost-effective compensation programs.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of current programs / plans and makes recommendations to Total Reward leadership regarding improvements or changes to gain alignment with industry best practices and with company incentive objectives.
  • Provides operational support and advice in specific compensation areas, including:

 

Base Compensation

  • Performs job analysis and job evaluation to develop job profiles and job architecture.
  • Determines FLSA status of jobs.
  • Recommends appropriate pay categories for new and revised jobs based on competitive and internal equity considerations.
  • Guides leadership in rewards decisions.

 

Incentive Compensation

  • Creates, reviews, and distributes complex Short-Term Incentives (STI) analyses and reporting.
  • Enforces and educates stores and regional leadership on STI policies and procedures.
  • Support and administer Long-Term Incentive (LTI) programs.

 

Compensation Systems

  • Designs, researches, analyzes, and maintains compensation information systems in support of TMS projects and administration.
  • Delegates auditing assignments to ensure data integrity.
  • Serves as liaison with Information Systems Team Members in resolving complex programming and related issues.
  • Recommends new equipment or software for continual system improvement.

  • Advanced knowledge of HRIS and compensation information systems.

  • Derives evidence-based insights to recommend changes and influence organizational decision-making.
  • Masters research methods and their application in the development and application of compensation processes.
  • Differentiates best practices that will work within the organization.
  • Executes case and pilot studies to evaluate and address specific problems and questions.

  • Possesses clear understanding of WFM’s business objectives, competitive strengths, and opportunities.
  • Understands industry trends and emerging challenges from the perspective of people development, rewards, and retention.
  • Demonstrates excellent knowledge of the WFM product mix, supply base, and retail operations.

Education & Experience

  • BA/BS degree and 4-6 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including use of PowerPoint, Excel, advanced formulas, and scenario and statistical analysis
  • Tableau skills preferred
  • Knowledge of Workday a plus
