Senior Immigration Specialist

What You’ll Do`
Key Responsibilities:
● Ensures all paperwork, including applications for immigration and visas are completed accurately and in a timely manner and reviews immigration procedures and legal status of foreign national employees are upheld
● Evaluate and track effectiveness of external immigration partners - make recommendations on necessary changes to process, procedure or vendor partnerships. Stay abreast of compliance issues
● Resolves requests in a timely manner for BigCommerce stakeholders including employees, hiring managers, talent acquisition, HR, payroll, accounting and finance
● Partners with external providers and internal stakeholders, to ensure process compliance and exceptional experience for transferees, assignees and new hires, including administration of domestic and international moves as well as immigration sponsorship for foreign national. local hires
● Manage short-term and long-term global mobility assignments administration
● Administer U.S. immigration situations for foreign national U.S. local hires to obtain U.S. work permits and permanent resident status
● Conduct visa sponsorship assessments in partnership with Talent Acquisition, and BigCommerce’s outside immigration counsel
● Monitor progress for all immigration cases in conjunction with BigCommerce’s outside immigration counsel, identify long term sponsorship needs and communicate clearly and effectively on immigration requirements, government procedures, case processing times to HR, employees and hiring managers
● Assist external immigration counsel with audit and RFE requests from U.S. DOL and USCIS
● Track and maintain immigration and Public Access Files
● Stay on top of immigration alerts, regulatory changes and development and communicate to appropriate stakeholders as needed
● Support short and long term international assignments and transfers throughout their lifecycle as needed, including: coordinating immigration, relocation, administering permanent transfer agreement, and communicating all efforts with internal and external partners to ensure compliance and exceptional experience for employees and managers
● Monitor employee international business travel to provide potential temporary visa and general information to BC employees traveling for business purposes
● Communicate processes, policies, procedures, and resolve immigration, international assignment related questions from stakeholders
● Work closely with service providers such as external immigration counsel and PEO vendors to ensure timely, high quality service delivery
● Identify global immigration and mobility process improvements; assist in designing and enhancing global mobility policies, processes, systems, and tools
● Carefully track and monitor critical deadlines and proactively identify and discuss with appropriate individuals
Who You Are
● 5+ years of broad HR experience in HR Operations, Talent Acquisition, HRBP or legal
● 3+ years of experience, administering corporate global immigration (Immigrant and Non-Immigrant) high-tech, high-growth environment, global/multi-location experience preferred
● 3+ years of experience in supporting and international assignment programs in US, Australia or United Kingdom
● Knowledge and understanding of U.S. immigration processes and laws
● Knowledge of global visas and processes
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills with cross cultural sensitivity and across all levels of organization
● Proficiency in MS Excel (actively working with reports), Outlook, Word, and PPT
● Experience handling sensitive and confidential matters
