The Vice President of People Operations will be a key leader at RapidDeploy and will be responsible for developing a world-class employee experience. The VP will have overall responsibility for directing the Human Resources and Recruiting functions and developing the strategy for RapidDeploy’s key personnel requirements as the company enters its next phase of growth.
The VP of People Operations will maintain a strategic and high-level perspective of the company but also be hands on operationally.
This role reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and will partner closely with the executive leadership team to ensure successful strategic alignment across the organization. RapidDeploy is a global organization with approximately 225 employees and has offices in Austin, Texas and Cape Town, South Africa.
The VP of People Operations will lead the development and execution of RapidDeploy’s Human Resources long term strategic plan as well as shorter term initiatives in line with our business objectives. We are seeking someone who understands where we are in our evolution as a company, is ready to capitalize on an already high performing organization and proactively plan and prepare for our next stage of growth.
This role will manage team members in People Operations and strategically partner with executives and senior leaders in our in U.S. and SA offices. Specifically, this person will manage, improve, and grow all the following core HR and Recruiting areas:
Employee Learning, Development & Retention Programs
- Develop and drive key recruitment and retention strategies
- Drive a high performing culture that promotes and ensures diversity, equality, and inclusion across the organization
- Develop and implement organization development and succession planning strategies
- Provide guidance on employee relations issues in partnership with HR team
- Lead change management and professional development initiatives across the organization
- Ensure ongoing engagement with employees at all levels to ensure a holistic view of the company temperature at all times
HR Operations
- Lead all People department-driven events (e.g. compensation and review cycles) and ensure HR processes align with business and operational cadence
- Ensure legal and regulatory compliance in all employment related aspects of the organization with thorough knowledge in such areas as EEO, Fair Labor Standards, Wage and Hour, FMLA, and other regulatory requirements, including international office standards
- Own the companies affirmative action plan and implementation thereof
- Continue to drive adoption and improvement of existing HR platforms (Bamboo, Lattice, Lever)
- Drive 1:1’s, 360-degree reviews and surveys throughout the organization
- Review and continue to enhance all existing HR policies and documents
Recruiting and Talent Acquisition
- Lead the People Operations team, continuing to define and implement an approach on attracting, hiring, and retaining top talent for RapidDeploy
- Actively source and recruit for key/senior roles
Cultural initiatives
- Provide leadership, mentoring and development for the RapidDeploy Management team and build organizational capability and effectiveness
- Provide strategic leadership on diversity and inclusion efforts
- Strong focus on and delivery of internal customer satisfaction
- Work with executive leadership to develop effective internal communications (between and among management and employees) to promote morale and achieve company-wide goals
Experience & Qualifications:
- At least seven to ten years of progressive HR experience, including prior experience leading the HR function at a VP level or equivalent required
- Experience working in technology industry preferred
- Experience developing and managing effective incentive compensation, benefits, and reward and recognition programs
- Ability to think strategically but also focus on tactical and operational issues
- Experience and bringing PEO HR functions in house
- A track record of building strong, effective teams of people with complementary skills
- Leadership experience developing talent management functions such as diversity and inclusion, learning and development, succession planning and performance management
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels – with the CEO, leadership team, Board of Directors, and employees
- Strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to influence a variety of stakeholders
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business (professional experience is a strong substitute for advanced formal education), Organization Development or Human Resources preferred
