The Role

Cox Automotive, a subsidiary of Cox Enterprises, is seeking a Lead Technical Architect to join our team!

As a Lead architect, you will work on designing next-generation customer-facing software-as-a-service applications including contributing to the success of:

  • A mix of modern and legacy applications in AWS
  • Application modernization
  • Portfolio rationalization that consolidates system integrations and duplicative platforms
  • Business, product, and engineering collaborations
  • Technical standards definition
  • Modern technology adoption
  • Meeting performance, availability, scalability, reliability, maintainability, and security SLAs


Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on the target state architecture and the value-driven, iterative roadmap for getting there.
  • Identify and communicate architectural risk and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Define architecture solutions aligned to target state architecture and collaborate with Product, and Engineering for implementation.
  • Facilitate design discussions and drive technical design reviews.
  • Participate in AWS Well Architected Reviews and develop solutions to mitigate risks.
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert to engineering.
  • Assist with improving architecture practices.
  • Leverage enterprise, portfolio patterns and standards as appropriate.
  • Identify and develop enterprise capabilities and look for opportunities to leverage existing enterprise capabilities.
  • Assist with governing software development to ensure satisfaction of non-functional requirements.
  • Build software prototypes to validate architecture approaches and assess emerging technologies.
  • Drive effective communication between cross-functional teams, including developers, QA, operations, and business stakeholders, to ensure alignment and clarity surrounding architecture decisions and future architecture direction.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders by consistently demonstrating technical expertise, reliability, and a clear understanding of business goals.


Leadership Qualifications

  • At ease advocating for technical solutions and driving change through influence.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage conflict and maintain productive working relationships.


Technical Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 6 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 4 years experience; a Ph.D. and 1 year of experience; or 18 years' experience in a related field
  • Ability to code.
  • SQL and NoSQL database technologies.
  • AWS (preferred), GCP, or Azure services and solution architectures.
  • REST API design and microservice implementation.
  • Managing distributed systems.
  • Docker, Kubernetes, or other container technologies.
  • .NET Core (preferred) or a willingness to learn.
  • Preferred: Automotive industry experience.


Experience

  • Experience in software development for mid-size to large corporations.
  • Preferred working experience as a solution or technical architect.


USD 129,000.00 - 215,100.00 per year
Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary of $129,000.00 - $215,100.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
Benefits:
The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members.
