 Description

Experian Partner Solutions is a leading provider of credit education, credit data and identity management solutions for businesses and their consumers. In 2016, Experian acquired Austin-based CSID, which was founded in 2006 by a few serial entrepreneurs with a passion for helping consumers protect something they treasure most – their identity. The company evolved into a hyper-growth cybersecurity startup helping businesses, both large and small, and 30+ million consumers (including families) with identity/fraud protection and data breach recovery (think Fortune 500 retailer gets hacked and credit card numbers get stolen).

OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a Lead UX & Product Designer. In this role, you will join a small, nimble product and design team responsible for shaping and implementing the vision across multiple SaaS products and channels (mobile, desktop, tablet). You will work with and learn from product managers, engineers, account managers, sales directors, and call center agents. The Lead UX & Product Designer will ensure we create a complete experience that exceeds customer expectations. As you and the company grows, you may have the chance to build the design team you always wanted.  We have a small team, so there is no room for specialization, but there is a lot of room for learning. Most of your time will be spent on UX. A good chunk of your time will be spent on IA. Some of your time will be spent on UI. Almost none of your time will be spent on IxD. This is a hands-on, not off, role.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Lead UX & Product Designer will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

- Create and lead a custom design process from user research to wires to user flows to launch to v3.0

- Gather and study qualitative and quantitative data to deeply understand the problems, needs, and wants of our enterprise and consumer users, so they can be translated into actionable insights

- Join and lead a small group of missionaries on a quest to make design a priority in a culture that has historically not prioritized design (this will not be easy, but it will produce stories to tell your grandchildren)

- Drive design sprints (Agile Scrum) to improve existing products, which currently serve 30+ million consumers

- Upgrade the complete mobile experience (iOS and Android)

- Join the adventure to connect design with business outcomes via product instrumentation and user analytics

- Work closely with product, engineering, account management, and support to ensure nothing ‘slips though the cracks’

- Execute on several projects concurrently while balancing shifting priorities

- Make decisions based on human empathy, logic, data, and your judgment

Qualifications

PREFERRED TALENTS SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE

Qualified candidates can walk in the door on their first day…

- With 5+ years of experience focused on UX and/or responsive product design

- With 2+ years of experience working in an Agile (Scrum) product environment

- Able to teach a 7th grade level class on credit scores, identity protection, and data security

- Able to have a 5 min conversation with a Java engineer, 15 min conversation with a Data Analyst, and 5 hour soulmate conversation with a Frontend engineer

- Knowing how to cut through ambiguity to identify the core priorities

- With a track record of figuring things out when the paint-by-number kit is missing a few numbers

- Seeking out brutally honest feedback followed by iterating on that feedback

- With some wisdom from navigating the guardrails of a white-label highly configurable product

- You believe in Design Thinking or Customer Development and know its tradeoffs and limitations

- A 4-year degree in HCI, architecture, graphic design, art, a related field or equivalent experience

- Being eligible to work in the United States

YOUR SANITY-CHECK

You may NOT enjoy this role or team, if you…

- Think design evangelism is akin to snake oil (we need to convert a few non-believers)

- Loathe the idea of dressing up for Halloween

- Dislike details, details, and more details

- Are terrified of practical jokes

- Think deadlines and processes are silly non-sense

- Have never watched the documentary Helvetica

- Think API stands for Associate Press Institute (our products are pretty technical)

- Refer to yourself as a design ninja, rock star, guru, or maven
