MongoDB, the leading modern, general purpose database platform, is looking to hire a fantastic lawyer in Austin, New York, or Palo Alto to fill the position of Commercial Counsel. Responsibilities

• Supporting MongoDB’s sales, business development and procurement teams, with primary responsibility for drafting and negotiating contracts
• Tackling other interesting legal projects and assisting team members on others as needed
• Identifying and implementing processes to help scale legal resources for MongoDB’s business

Requirements

• J.D. and bar membership (in applicable state or province)
• 5+ years of transactional experience, preferably including technology licensing or commercial experience
• Proven record of success at a reputable law firm and in-house
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to understand complex contractual issues, assess risk within the context of our business, and provide clear legal advice
• Curious and enthusiastic about technology, enjoy working hard and overcoming challenges, and demonstrate practical judgment in difficult situations
• Great leadership and teamwork skills

Nice to haves

• Knowledge of the database industry and MongoDB is a huge plus
• Experience working closely with sales and business development teams within a rapidly growing company
• Success building simple processes that scale long-term
• Familiarity with coding, software, open source licensing, IT infrastructure, outsourcing, telecommunications or cloud computing services
