Overview

LegalZoom is looking for a Head of Government Affairs and Policy expert to join its fast-paced legal department. This leader will build out this critical function and represent LegalZoom's interest at the State, Local, and Federal levels across a variety of priorities. We sit at the heart of a highly regulated industry that operates daily with all levels of government agencies in order to effectively deliver our core product offerings.

You will

  • Build a govt affairs and policy program that is durable and embedded into strategic planning and product commercialization
  • Represent LegalZoom's interest with key government partners including executive and legislative leaders, and high-level administration officials on a wide range of business and social issues
  • Work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to ensure that emerging issues and trends are clearly understood and advise on steps to address them.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for state and local civic, industry and/or policy associations
  • Analyze legislative and regulatory proposals to assess relevance and impacts
  • Collaborate and coordinate with relevant associations and follow industry trends and policy issues.
  • Manage on-going efforts and communications to educate members of state legislators and relevant agencies.
  • Develop, foster, and strengthen relationships with key members of relevant regulatory bodies and third parties.
  • Draft and edit position papers, testimony, and comments on proposed legislative and regulatory actions.

You have

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS)
  • JD welcome but not required
  • Minimum of 15 years of combined experience in corporate government affairs, and/or in a regulatory agency or government office
  • Quick strategic thinker, who is able to effectively synthesize and translate complex material for education/engagement purposes both internally and externally.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Strong communicator, editor, writer, and presenter
  • Understanding of internet technologies
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills, collaborating with multiple teams simultaneously
