Director of Product Compliance & Regulatory Affairs
The Director of Regulatory Affairs coordinates inspection of the organization and contract facilities and develops procedures to ensure regulatory compliance. Oversees the regulation process for products requiring governmental approval, including filing necessary applications and handling all government interactions. This position reports to the Senior Vice President of Sales.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for the legal and regulatory emission, safety compliance, and certification for Hyliion products
- Lead the strategy development regarding state laws that regulate Hyliion’s business including, but not limited to sales, service, delivery, and other customer-facing business units.
- Lead all regulatory activities, rulemaking, emission compliance, emission certification, government reporting efforts
- Represent Hyliion in industry trade associations
- Develop and communicate the companies’ strategies to comply with safety and emissions requirements and associated corporate policies
- Monitor and participate in federal and state legislative and regulatory activities
- Represent Hyliion before state and federal regulatory bodies
- Establish or revise existing legal compliance strategies for sales, service, and delivery rollout.
- Understand the impacts of various state laws on Hyliion’s business and support Policy team efforts to change laws that are impediments to Hyliion’s business model.
- Work alongside various areas such as Legal, Sales, Service, Customer Experience, Communications, and others with respect to tactics and strategies most supportive of Hyliion’s business plans
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Familiarity with automotive and truck commercial legal issues at the state level.
- Understanding of the impacts of federal laws on state regulation of motor vehicles.
- A track record of superior accomplishment and ability.
- A thorough understanding of policy, legislative procedure, and regulatory processes.
- A proven track record of leadership and autonomy in a fast-paced and dynamic atmosphere with the ability to work cooperatively with a diverse group of partners and stakeholders both internally and externally.

- Demonstrated ability to multi-task on diverse issues simultaneously.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific or engineering discipline or a minimum of 10 years work experience
- 5 years of regulatory affairs experience
- 5 years of experience in the heavy truck industry
- 3 years of experience in government, regulatory project management/program management, and regulatory agency interactions
Preferred Qualifications:
- Direct experience with automotive or truck sales of electric vehicles.
- Direct experience with a technology startup organization.
- Direct state-level experience on the regulation of sales and service of motor vehicles.
- Direct relationships with CARB and EPA
Physical Demands:
