Duo Security is looking for Senior Counsel, Privacy and Security to aid in developing, maintaining and driving the success of its global programs and strategies related to data privacy and security. As Senior Counsel, Privacy and Security you will serve as the Legal Team’s resident authority and resource on global privacy and data protection laws, particularly those in the United States and European Union. In this role, you will partner with and advise key stakeholders and leaders across the business on compliance with global privacy and data security requirements. You will provide guidance on the legal, privacy and security implications of new products and features and proposed expansion into new markets. You will devise sound and practical risk-mitigating strategies. This is a demanding position but you won't be doing it alone. You will work with an amazing, dedicated team in a dynamic, challenging, fun and fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing, managing and driving success of the legal aspects of the company’s privacy and security programs, including related policies and procedures, compliance materials, and employee training.
- Advise the company in connection with products and projects that raise issues of privacy, data protection and data governance under US and EU laws.
- Partner with teams and leaders to ensure Duo’s policies and procedures related to breach notification and response align with global legal requirements and standards.
- Actively monitor changes to the business and legal landscape in relation to data privacy and protection
- Help Duo assess the impact and proposing pragmatic business solutions to ensure the company stays aligned with changing requirements and standards.
- Collaborate, partner and support members of the Legal Team on other matters, as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited law school and active member of a state bar in good standing.
- 6+ years of experience in a law firm and in-house legal department.
- 4+ years experience on privacy and data protection issues, including significant familiarity with U.S. and E.U. laws.
- Ability to successfully communicate legal privacy and security requirements effectively at all levels, and to draft and apply privacy and security policies and processes.
- Experience with cross-border data transfers and methods of ensuring compliance with data protection laws, as well as with privacy and security provisions in commercial agreements.
- Flexibility and understanding of the dynamic culture in a commercially oriented, fast paced technology company.
