WHAT IS COOL ABOUT THIS JOB
WP Engine powers amazing digital experiences on websites and applications built with WordPress. We are searching for a proven technical manager to lead our 24/7 systems operation center team. Our container-based infrastructure consists of thousands of servers running on multiple public cloud providers that host over 500,000 customer web sites, serving 4 billion requests every day, reaching 5% of the world's population. The ideal candidate will have a background in systems administration and monitoring and a history of successfully managing and growing technical teams.
THE DAY TO DAY
- Lead a global team of systems administrators that monitor and troubleshoot the infrastructure that powers 500,000 customer web sites
- Collaborate with Customer Support to diagnose and resolve technical issues that impact customers
- Partner with developers on the SRE team to improve monitoring, troubleshooting and deployment in the WP Engine farm
- Proactively address potential problems to prevent impact to customers
- Mentor employees to provide career growth within the R&D team
- Work with other R&D leaders to ensure that we provide an exceptional experience to our customers
YOUR EXPERTISE AND PASSION
- 3+ years in a technical management role
- Experience monitoring and troubleshooting in complex, large-scale public cloud deployments that included international data centers
- Extensive experience with installing, configuring and maintaining services such as DNS, Apache, NGINX, MySQL on Linux
- Experience with large scale monitoring solutions
- Demonstrated history of continuous learning and ability to stay current with technology trends
- Enviable track record of partnering with co-workers on Customer Support and Customer Success teams
- Ability to manage outages and customer escalations and communicate status to customers, co-workers and executives
- Proven experience building and managing a world-class, global team
- Great time management and prioritization skills
- Experience working with global teams
- Knowledge of Wordpress fundamentals
