The Opportunity:

The research analyst will be responsible for supporting the Consumer Insights Lead, Global Market Research with scheduled and ad hoc market research. Project breakdown will be approximately, 75% global research, 25% US research. The analyst will support ongoing global projects such as HomeAway's customer satisfaction study and HomeAway's brand and category awareness tracker and ad hoc market research studies.

We are looking for a candidate with 2-3 years of experience in client or agency market research. Candidate should be equally comfortable supporting projects that are executed by external vendors and assisting with internal projects that are led by the Consumer Insights Lead. With guidance, the candidate must be able to support all aspects of a research project including survey writing, sample management, data collection, data analysis and report writing. The candidate should have strong analytical skills and the ability to generate insights that will help drive our business. Given the complexity of some analyses, prior experience working with statistics and statistical packages is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide market research support to the Consumer Insights Lead, Global Market Research.
  • Work with research vendors to ensure timely and accurate delivery of HomeAway's customer satisfaction study and HomeAway's brand and category awareness tracker.
  • Manage small ad-hoc research projects from research request through report delivery.
  • Maintain market research portal to ensure research is easily accessible to all employees.
  • Manage internal feedback tools including OpinionLab and HomeAway Voices.

Candidate Profile:

  • Experience with a variety of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and the ability to apply the appropriate methodology to the research need.
  • Knowledge of operational components of market research, including:
    • Screener development.
    • Questionnaire development.
    • Questionnaire program checking.
    • Sample management.
    • Data cleaning.
  • Intellectual and analytical curiosity – initiative to dig into the "why" of various results, and creativity in approaching complex problems to find answers.
  • Must be comfortable with uncertainty. Projects and assignments will change rapidly, so the Analyst must be flexible enough to accommodate changing priorities and timelines.
  • Able to work with different business units and teams, often across multiple countries, to gather input and communicate findings and practices company-wide.
  • Able to work independently and proactively.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Bachelor's degree or solid background in mathematics, statistics, or other quantitative discipline.
