Job Description

As a Comms Manager, you will play a critical role in telling Literati’s story through earned media. You will be a part of a talented marketing team and report to the Director of Comms. You will work on the media strategy for both Literati Kids and Literati. We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running and has media relations experience in a number of different verticals, experience pitching thought leadership opportunities, and can think strategically about media opportunities.

YOU’RE GOOD AT:

  • Drafting, developing, and executing comprehensive communications strategies
  • Pitching parenting, publishing, consumer tech and business reporters 
  • Pitching regional stories focused on donation programs (Austin and beyond), top tier publications in markets with a lot of subscribers. 
  • Drafting, editing and proofreading materials including press releases, pitches, fact sheets, FAQs, briefing notes.
  • Conducting regular and thorough research on various topics, flagging relevant news updates
  • CEO thought leadership/speaking engagement pitching

YOU WILL NEED:

  • 5 years minimum experience in communications, integrated media relations, etc.
  • Strong writing skills
  • You have a growing list of relationships with media across a variety of verticals and know how to leverage those relationships to secure impactful media opportunities.
  • You are a strategic thinker, bring new ideas to the table. 
  • Experience pitching podcasts, business, and tech press 
  • Knowledge of the book/publishing industry a plus 
  • Internal comms experience a plus 
  • Experience working closely with high profile individuals and media 

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY WILL LOOK LIKE: 

You’ll work directly with our Director of Comms to work on all things communications for both Literati and Literati Kids product lines, philanthropic pitching (both regional and national), CEO speaking opportunities and thought leadership. We are a small but mighty team, so must be ok with media list building, reporting and lots of pitching!
