Director, Marketing Research

Realtor.com is looking for a Director, Marketing Research to help understand audience segmentation, and provide insights to inform marketing, advertising, and brand strategies for the company. You will be responsible for the planning, budgeting, direction, decision-making, and execution of all marketing research initiatives in support of the brand strategy. This role encompasses all phases of research along the brand's lifecycle continuum, including brand tracking, segmentation and positioning, brand equity and life cycle management activities. You will also be working closely with the executives and making a big influence on the overall company’s strategy. You will bring your deep knowledge of marketing strategy and tactics, as well as a suite of measurement best practices that drives continuous improvement in the overall effectiveness of our marketing both above and below the line.
Responsibilities
- Manage junior researcher(s) on the team and establish team’s quarterly research goal and research roadmap-
- Review research objectives and detailed research plans, and make sure research objectives aligns with key business decisions / initiatives;
- Oversee research execution process to ensure high research validity;
- Review research findings, provide feedback on what to improve, and make sure research makes an impact on the business;
- Also help prioritize and arrange appropriate workload for each team member
- Work closely with marketing professionals, product managers, and sales team to identify research needs and communicate research findings-
- Help the organization understand the competitive landscape and our brand health among both consumers and B2B professionals, and identify ways to improve our brand funnel and brand perceptions
- Help Brand Marketing team create annual brand marketing strategy plan; Provide guidance on new brand campaign every year through evaluating different campaign ideas and tracking brand campaign effectiveness
- Explore and evaluate newest campaign tracking solutions and make recommendations to Brand Marketing team;
- Leverage and integrate primary and syndicated research, multiple studies, secondary sources, and marketplace intelligence to generate impactful insights that inform business and marketing strategies
- Integrate and share insights across lines of business, peers, and leaders to collaborate on key marketing issues and obtain buy-in for research plans to address any knowledge gaps
What you will bring to the team…
- Curious, self-motivated and entrepreneurial – comfortable with white space and interested in proactively proposing and pursuing new research projects to address partner questions
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to read and interpret survey results, identify insights, and synthesize how these insights impact marketing strategy
- Strong writing and presentation skills, with outstanding communication skills and experience simplifying complex subject matter to present actionable insights in a compelling way through effective design and data visualizations
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in market research, marketing, business, sociology, psychology, behavioral economics, etc.
- Advanced degree, such as an MBA or an MS (business, marketing research, consumer psychology, management consulting, or related field) preferred
- 8+ years of experience leading brand health studies and/or long-term research projects focused on marketing communications and business results
- 2+ years of people management experience preferred
- Experience with advanced research methods, such as linear modeling, logistic modeling, cross-media analysis, marketing mix modeling, and other statistical techniques preferred
