We are searching for an Internal Communications Specialist to join the Institutional Marketing team. Communications is a vital part of Amherst, and we see the mission for the Internal Communications Specialist as developing the employee experience through timely, effective, and concise communications. The Internal Communications Specialist will be responsible for planning, developing, managing, and recommending solutions for multiple organizations. The right person for this role is digitally savvy, detail-oriented, possesses project management skills, and is constantly seeking new channels to reach audiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with colleagues across the organization in various departments to design and execute internal communications for employees

  • Copywrite and edit internal messages from a variety of voices

  • Manage and create the content calendar for communications

  • Partner on communicating employee events related to holidays and observances

  • Proofread and coordinate production of communications

  • Serve as a contributor and editor of the employee newsletter. Curate newsletter submissions and content

  • Coordinate, as needed, presentation preparations; including speeches and talking points, researching and analyzing information, planning logistics, graphic presentation, and overall coordination

  • Increase the employee experience through compelling communications

  • Develop and maintain working relationships with pertinent stakeholders across Amherst

  • Take the lead on special projects on an as-needed basis

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or a related field

  • 2 – 4 years of experience, with at least two of the years in a professional setting

  • Superior oral and written communication and presentation skills with strong attention to detail and deadlines

  • Exceptional writing and communication skills

  • Executes effectively and efficiently

  • Results-oriented and collaborative, thrives in a team environment

  • Prior experience copywriting and editing

  • Self-starter, able to initiate and lead projects

  • Prior skills at creating/utilizing email templates and/or communications technology like Constant Contact, MailChimp, etc.

  • Demonstrated experience working in MS Office products, including Word and PowerPoint
