Marketing Communications Specialist
Q2 is a mission-driven company that is focused on building strong and diverse communities by strengthening their financial institutions. To help fulfill this mission and commitment to the community, we are seeking an energetic, talented, and passionate communications team member who will help execute against our external communications strategy. This person will help manage our public relations deliverables – write and distribute press releases, submit award and speaking applications, and build relationships with the media – and will execute against our social media strategy. This position can be based remote or in Austin and reports to Sr. Communications Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Works closely with the Sr. Communications Manager to determine PR needs across all LOBs - announcements, product announcements, PR campaigns, etc.
Manages a comprehensive PR calendar to ensure appropriate coordination with stakeholders, important deadlines are met, and Comms team is taking advantage of critical PR opportunities.
Assists in writing, editing, and distributing press releases.
Collaborates with Q2 Leaders to determine stories and speaking topics to be brought to the market via thoughtful PR Campaigns.
Writes press releases for award and speaking announcements.
Executes against social media strategy by posting planned posts on a daily basis.
Writes engaging social media copy that elevates Q2's voice within the market.
Performs monthly reporting of social media metrics and provides recommendations for improvement.
Engages with industry thought leaders and influencers on social media.
Works with Q2 Stadium team to execute against Q2 Stadium social media strategy.
Submits applications for awards and speaking opportunities.
Develops communications plans for award and speaking announcements.
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English or related field
2-5 years of experience in Communications, Marketing, Social Media or Public Relations
Experienced communications professional that is passionate, with a high degree of empathy. Some who cares and values the role of communications to win the hearts and minds of our people
Eagerness to learn and develop new PR and social media skills.
Ability to take what has been learned and apply it on a daily basis, while also recognizing
Strong interpersonal skills needed and must be comfortable in front of C-level executives
An exceptional writer with the ability to create compelling messages that effectively and clearly communicate to target audiences
Deep understanding of social media platforms and their ever-changing features and functionalities
Keenly aware of the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion as an essential element of communications best practice
Creative and proactive in bringing new ideas and approaches to better achieve the goals and objectives of the program
Ability to think strategically, create compelling and interesting PR and social media campaigns, and report on resulting metrics
Must have the ability to build strong relationship with cross-functional teams quickly
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are a must
A “team player” who is results-orientated
Superior collaboration and interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with all levels of management. Ability to project a confident leadership image to peers and management
