The Senior Program Manager will report to the Senior Team Leader of Promotions Planning; and will play a critical role in the development, coordination and execution of our promotional strategy and key promotional initiatives at Whole Foods Market. The individual will help lead efforts to streamline our processes and planning for promotions, to partner cross-functionally to optimize our promotional decision-making, and to determine and deliver against the goals of key programs and events.Core Responsibilities:

  • Establish and manage strong collaborative relationships with each merchant team to ensure promotions program is aligned to and supporting business priorities and goals.
  • Lead cross functional planning and execution of promotional marketing programs across merchant categories
  • Work closely with merchant and analytic teams to measure and understand promotional and event performance to make recommendations for future programing.
  • Serve as a steward and champion for the Weekly Promotional Program with internal and external teams including the Merchandising Program Management team and the Technology team.
  • Serves as program owner for promotions planning in partnership with technology to develop and support new tools.
  • Be an expert on the competitive landscape and implications to the business.
  • Partner with Global Merchandising and the Promo Marketing teams to:
    • Own and lead promo prioritization and submissions
    • Ensure accuracy and on time delivery of promotional data to marketing, data, and analytics partners
    • Own and improve existing processes and workflows to ensure accuracy, ease of communication, and optimize business performance across the total store
    • Leads promotional coordination meetings to help develop project schedules, including timelines and expected deliverables, holding merchants accountable to organizational expectations.
    • Lead cross functional partners in the development, production, and execution of promotional specific marketing collateral and programs
  • Owns promo marketing execution for Merchandising teams
  • Lead weekly internal promotional communication, establishing clear tasks for all teams, coordinating deliverables, and holding teams accountable.
  • Implementation of off-shelf strategy and process; will work with global merchant teams on off-shelf planning and execution in alignment with seasonal priorities in coordination with Retail Execution and Planning Team.
  • Be an active resource for merchants by surfacing competitive, industry and analytical insights to teams, by leveraging insights from Nielsen, Marketing and Promo Analytics, and Competitive Intelligence teams to create an objective set of data and insights

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • 4-6 years of relevant merchandising/promotion experience at a well-established retailer, broker or brand with experience leading promotions planning or process development in collaboration with retailers and/or suppliers.
  • Strong business acumen and a proven track record delivering business results through high volume/fast turn workstreams.
  • Highly analytical with a demonstrated ability to translate quantitative data into actionable strategies and plans.
  • Expertise in customer-facing communication.
  • Demonstrated leadership of cross-functional teams and an ability to lead and influence across the organizational hierarchy.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Desire to be part of shaping the future vs. being handed a roadmap.

  • Experience with Microsoft office suite; must have advanced proficiency in Excel
