Overview
The Media Standards and Practices manager will play a critical role building the future media foundation for General Motors by maximizing the amount of media investment that reaches the consumer while minimizing ad fraud and media waste. The ideal candidate will lead a team and work with a broad set of cross-functional stakeholders to enable our nimble, data-driven media team to deliver optimal media outcomes. This person will be responsible for identifying and implementing key media standards and guardrails across the enterprise. They will also work closely with our agency partners and other internal teams to consistently scale best practices across all levels of media activity (national, regional, and local) to drive key business and media outcomes. The ideal candidate will be an excellent verbal and written communicator who is able to work with a large cross section of internal and external stakeholders to drive success.
Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the team responsible for the development and consistent implementation of all media hygiene factors (viewability, ad fraud, etc) and media 'guardrails' (core, foundational best practices)


  • Oversee the RFP process for tools and partners in the media guardrails space as well as playing a critical role in the onboarding of other media tech to ensure it can adhere to guardrail standards (ie: Viewability, frequency controls, allow lists, etc)


  • Work with brand teams, activation teams, and media agencies to ensure hygiene factors and guardrails are deployed in all key media tactics to ensure consistency


  • Work with brand stakeholders and respective agencies to ensure consistency of media approach across all 'tiers' of media (national, regional, local)


  • Work closely with Tier 3 (dealer) media team to scale best practices and learnings


  • Lead development of media efficiency model ("Productivity") in coordination with agency and other partners to ensure GM maximizes media cost performance without sacrificing media quality or performance


  • Lead execution and analysis of annual Media Price Benchmarking analysis


  • Lead deployment of GM's Digital Ad Quality (viewability, ad fraud, etc) approach, maximizing the amount of working media spend available to reach consumers


  • Translate Test and Learn best practices into new media guardrails


  • Develop and own processes to ensure approaches are scaled and actioned consistently across global markets


Additional Description
Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or related field


  • 7+ years of experience in paid media; agency and/or automotive experience preferred


  • Proven experience using data and analytics to plan and optimize media campaigns


  • Proven experience leading large, complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders


  • Ability to effectively lead and influence a team comprised of both direct and indirect reports


  • Strong presentation and communication skills, including written and oral communications - demonstrated ability to distill large sets of complex data and information down to the most crucial elements


  • Ability to manage complex initiatives requiring the input of multiple stakeholders


  • Ability to listen to and understand the needs of internal/external stakeholders and in turn develop thoughtful solutions


  • People leadership experience preferred


  • Desire to remain current in the media space through ongoing education and skill development with demonstrated progression as subject matter expert


  • Excellent time management skills - the ability to effectively and efficiently use your time to focus on the most impactful activities and challenge those that distract from the identified goal


  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment


  • Proactive self-starter who can work well both independently and as part of a team


  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels


  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel


Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.

  • The salary range for this role is ($135,800-$208,100). The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
