RapidDeploy is focused on cloud first solutions and our Director of Infrastructure Operations needs to be more than just an expert at managing technology. You must be aware of the strategic direction of the organization as well as innovative technologies on the horizon. You must be able to use this knowledge to select the right technology that enables the organization to move forward by working closely with the Engineering and Security & Trust departments. You are conscious of the cost of the Infrastructure and continuously show improvements that drives down infrastructure outlay. Furthermore, you must be able to lay out a strategy that the CTO, CISO, CFO & VP Engineering will understand and support, showing that you understand how technology relates to the goals of the department and the larger organization.
Your Mandate will be to lead a team of ~10 engineers to create the outcome of a resilient, trustworthy, and performant cloud infrastructure estate. Work closely with Product, Engineering and Security & Trust to deliver safe and secure infrastructure that meets the objectives of an industry leading Cloud-Aided-Dispatch business, that focuses on delivering business value and trust to our customers.
What You'll Be Doing at RapidDeploy
- Infrastructure Management: Demonstrated success in building and managing infrastructure in Azure and deploying through CI/CD pipelines, utilizing technologies such as Terraform, YAML, Ansible, Docker, and Kubernetes. Proven administration of high availability heterogenous environments including Windows and Linux virtual machines, Kubernetes, and cloud networking. Consistent application of best practices such as CIS Benchmarks across all infrastructure environments.
- Configuration Management: Lead formal assessments of controls against best practices to identify gaps, generate reports on assessment findings, and manage the development and implementation of required corrective action plans. Leverage automatization using Ansible to ensure the effective, auditable, and consistent delivery of configurations to Azure environments.
- Network Management: Lead formal assessments of current network architecture, identify gaps with best practices for high availability and mission-critical environments, generate reports on assessment findings, and manage corrective action until completion.
- Monitoring & Alerting: Ensure a strong monitoring system is in place, produce standard reports on the status of the infrastructure and regularly communicate what the team is doing and how their work relates to the success of the organization.
- Standards & Procedures: Build and maintain repeatable governance and processes to ensure the success across a distributed team. These procedures must be effective, built through collaboration with other teams, be well-documented, and be embedded into the culture of the team and its operations.
- IT Support: Develop and manage a small and proactive internal IT support function to support RapidDeploy staff with the purpose of enabling productivity, delivering systems that support data-driven decision-making, and providing capabilities that embrace automation.
Skills/Experience
- 5+ years of hands-on experience managing cloud infrastructure in enterprise and mission-critical cloud deployments.
- 3+ years of experience building and managing infrastructure to meet NIST SP 800-53 compliance standards.
- 3+ years delivering outcomes across all relevant domains using Infrastructure as Code.
- 3+ years of experience in cloud cost management and optimization.
- 3+ years of experience delivering resilient infrastructure to meet high availability requirements.
- Extensive enterprise experience in Azure infrastructure and network operations
- Ability to upskill a team on the use of Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and configuration management with Ansible.
- Responsible for maintaining 24/7 service, a low MTTR in case of service interruption, and the management of operations meeting 99.99% infrastructure uptime.
- ·Responsible to manage a pool of resources across distinct locations and time zones.
- Translate strategy into detailed requirements, user stories, and prototypes.
- Experience hiring, mentoring, and developing top engineering talent.
- Experience initiating cross-functional collaboration between multiple functions (technical and non-technical).
- Strong management and project management skills for planning and executing complex projects.
