The ever evolving Supply Chain is critical to Gembah, and this role is instrumental in evolving our capabilities through a time of very rapid growth. Our customers trust us to guide them through the complex product development journey, and when we do so successfully, and help them create a new product and bring it to market, that can have a tremendous impact on their business

Success For You In This Role Looks Like

Gembah leverages a global network of factories to help its marketplace customers design and manufacture new products. The Head of Imports and Manufacturing will be responsible for the company's global manufacturing operations and manage all overseas teams. The overseas teams works closely with the US Account Management Team, managing the production side of customer projects. The primary tasks for the overseas team are:

  1. Sourcing (finding the best factory options for the specific product)
  2. Negotiations (obtaining multiple quotes and getting the best value)
  3. Production oversight (coordinating QC resources and factory visits during production)
  4. logistics (securing the most cost effective transportation and shipping).

The Head of Imports and Manufacturing will manage the existing team, and is also responsible for continuously expanding our network of partner factories globally, establishing new partnerships and nurturing existing relationships to optimize quality, cost, and speed.  

Currently the majority of factories are located in Asia and the majority of our overseas team is located in Dongguan, China. It is a current initiative to expand our operations in other regions, and it will be part of the HIM's responsibilities to lead that effort. Thus having experience with manufacturing in China is essential, and experience from other regions also highly desirable. The HIM will be working from the US but is expected to travel internationally. The role reports to the company COO.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage the current team to ensure orders are managed to completion, accurately on time 
  • Manage rapid organizational growth to support growing operations with sustained quality
  • Manage and grow global factory network, build processes to continuously evaluate partners and improve quality
  • Review current processes and systems, identify and implement improvements, to drive efficiencies and quality
  • Manage the overseas team, build an inclusive culture that makes the overseas team feel integrated with the overall organization
  • Build out our factory network and processes in new geographies, including India, Mexico, South East Asia, Latin America, and the US.
  • Evolve partnerships with logistics, shipping, insurance, finance
