We are looking for a Head of Operations who will be working very closely with the Product and Marketing leadership to build upskilling solutions for marketers.

This role will report directly to the CEO, and will oversee the execution of our business strategy.

ABOUT CXL Institute

CXL Institute is a data and research focused startup. There is no clear leader in the 'online digital marketing education' space, and we're going for that spot.

We’re a small business on paper (2019 revenue $2.5MM, 45% growth YoY), but with a big impact. We punch above our weight, and have ambitious growth goals.

In just 4 short years CXL Institute has built a reputation as the destination for data-driven marketing training. In addition, we run 2 world class conferences each year (well, we did before 2020 anyway).

We’re self-funded, profitable, and have been growing every single year around 40-45%. We’re proud of that, but we want to grow faster.

We deliver known quality, and have a strong brand - among those who know us. There are a lot of fans out there.

The right candidate can grasp the full breadth and scope of our current situation and competitive landscape, and work closely with the leadership in product and marketing to understand how to improve our offering, develop our competitive strategy, and deliver a fast implementation from the team.

ABOUT THE JOB AND THE WORK

You will be a key influencer in how we drive forward our product, sales, and our marketing growth operations.

What you will do:

  • Lead day to day operations and deliver on strategy and operational plans from the planning process against the strategic vision for the company.
  • You will work closely with the leadership of the product and marketing teams to agree execute on our business strategy.
  • Provide actionable insights from your own analysis of the product analytics, sales and marketing funnels and conversion metrics.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor day-to-day operational systems and processes that provide visibility into goals, progress, and obstacles for our key initiatives.
  • Formulate business strategy with others in the executive team.
  • Implement efficient processes and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international laws (e.g. data protection).
  • Manage contracts and relations with customers, vendors, partners and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee expenses and budgeting to help the organization optimize costs and benefits, take care of bills, vendor payments. Liase with our accounting firm.
  • Mentor and motivate teams to achieve productivity and engagement
  • Report on operational performance and suggest improvements

ABOUT YOU

If you're fast,naturally organized, love processes and systems, geek out on modelling numbers and strategies, love a scrappy roll-up-your-sleeves environment, this might be a perfect fit.

We would love to hear from you if:

  • Substantial experience as Head of Operations, Operations Director or similar leadership role, with experience managing product or marketing operations
  • You've worked in subscription/SaaS or online education
  • Superior knowledge of multiple operational functions and principles, including marketing, B2B sales, customer success, product, and employee management
  • You are a strong people manager, able to help staff deliver effectively, and develop their careers so they can become increasingly effective.
  • From your previous roles, you can demonstrate a good understanding of forecasting and analysis, and are generally good with numbers and financial planning
  • Similarly, from your previous roles you can demonstrate understanding of growth marketing operations
  • You have experience with project management methodologies, particularly Agile, and can quickly and iteratively deliver solutions.
  • You can manage multiple stakeholders, effectively prioritizing requests and projects, and communicate the priorities to the team

In addition, we are looking for someone with great technical depth. You should have experience in a large majority of the following technologies:

BI tools, Customer Data Management Platforms, Marketing Automation Platforms, Sales Automation tools, Experience with sourcing data from third parties eg Clearbit, Datanyze; as well as web scraping, Integrating these tools to achieve uniform data sync.

ABOUT COMPENSATION

Ideal candidate would be based out of Austin, TX (like the bulk of the team), and would work out of our office once we return there, but we're open to remote (in the Americas time zones).
