Description
SparkCognition is an award-winning developer of enterprise-scale AI solutions that allow organizations across industries to predict future outcomes, automate processes, and prevent cyber-attacks. We do this for some of the biggest brands in the business by allowing them to analyze, optimize, and learn from data, augmenting human intelligence and delivering a better, safer, and more sustainable bottom-line result. The company is venture-backed, with a marquis client list, world-class board of directors, and globally recognized advisors, and has experienced exceptional growth (CAGR 100%+) since its inception in 2013.
SparkCognition's Immigration Specialist is primarily responsible for the coordination of immigration processes. The successful candidate will manage immigration filings and the vendors that support the business, as well as serve as a key advisor to members of the Human Resources & Leadership Teams as they strategize on the viability of sponsorship for recruiting and/or complexities of internal transfers/promotions. In addition to core immigration responsibilities, this role will support the broader Human Resource Function on key projects and initiatives.
If you were already working for us, you would be:

  • Ensuring timely and compliant maintenance of visa status and Immigration filings for sponsored individuals by collaborating internally with management and external vendors. This includes, but is not limited to, assessing the visa category most appropriate for the organization and the Employee, filing for extensions and renewals, monitoring renewal availability, and filing amended petitions, changes of status notifications and communicating with the appropriate authorities when employment status is terminated with the Company.
  • Working closely with the Immigration attorney and staff to efficiently and effectively support the immigration process.
  • During the pre-hire process, provide guidance to the Talent Acquisition Team by conducting a viability assessment of candidate visa sponsorship and long-term employment options in the U.S.
  • Delivering a high-quality and consistent experience for SparkCognition sponsored candidates and employees and managers including acting as the point of contact for immigration related questions and concerns.
  • Contributing to immigration resources that promote self-service and consult on projects to develop communication strategies.
  • Aiding STEM and OPT students with proper completion of training plans (as required by academic institutions).
  • Working closely with SparkCognition's Human Resources and Leadership teams in identifying key industry and internal trends, strategizing on employment decisions, as well as keeping abreast of regulatory and legislative changes that might impact the company's decisions.
  • Developing and refining policies and procedures that both enable the business and ensure fair and equitable administration of immigration practices in furtherance of a high-quality customer experience. This may include preparing materials and educating managers and team members on U.S. work visa and/or legal permanent residence application requirements and processes.
  • Facilitating generation and execution of letters for miscellaneous visa and green card processes.
  • Tracking and maintaining immigration files in accordance with audit standards.
  • Managing immigration spend by partnering with Finance on visa costs, forecasting visa costs for future year and approving and tracking invoices from immigration counsel.
  • Other duties as assigned.

You may be a fit for our team if you:

  • 3-5+ years of US immigration experience, either within a law firm (such as a paralegal with responsibility for immigration petition preparation/filings) or in-house in an organization with a significant volume of immigration-supported employees
  • Experience identifying and resolving complex issues, providing consultation in unfamiliar or ambiguous circumstances - solid sense of accountability and sound personal judgment
  • Excellent written and verbal communications - ability to interface with all levels of the organization
  • Experience managing large, complex projects, tracking key dates and deliverables
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite and ability to learn, navigate and leverage online tools utilized by external legal service providers.

It would be great if you had:

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to work collaboratively and cross-functionally
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced and results oriented environment
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
  • Attention to detail
  • Exhibit a sense of urgency in responding to requests for information
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
