Amherst seeks an enthusiastic, people-oriented Onboarding Specialist to foster a best-in-class onboarding experience for both new hires and hiring managers. This new role will serve as the single point of contact for new hires and their managers, ensure necessary documentation and forms have been submitted, and partner with key stakeholders to continually refine the onboarding process to ensure scalability while driving quality of service. This role sits on the Learning & Growth team within the Human Capital team and has a dotted line to the HRIS Manager for systems-related matters. The role also collaborates closely with Talent Acquisition.
Responsibilities:
Own smooth operation of new hire onboarding process following offer letter execution to 30 days post-start date
Serve as single point of contact for new hires in the lead-up to their first day and thereafter as they acclimate to the organization
Champion the Amherst culture and values for new hires
Consult with hiring managers to determine technology, facilities, and other requirements for new hires, and liaise with support teams to ensure those requirements are met in advance of a new hire’s start date
Deliver high-touch, white-glove individualized onboarding experience to senior-level hires
Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to continually refine processes, optimizing for scalability, efficiency, and quality of service delivered to new hires and hiring managers
Gather feedback on onboarding processes from new hires and hiring managers and use findings to drive improvements and develop onboarding best practices
Conduct work authorization checks and prepare the associated documentation
Assist with development and presentation of orientation materials
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent work experience)
2+ years of experience in Human Resources/Recruiting, preferably in a capacity that included new hire onboarding
Strong verbal/written communicator; exceptional interpersonal skills; highest attention to detail
Highly organized with strong follow up skills and the ability to juggle and effectively prioritize a high volume of tasks
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, client-centric environment and operating under tight deadlines
Bias towards innovation, establishing streamlined scalable processes, and continuous improvement
Pragmatic, results-oriented, energetic, and flexible as circumstances require
Adept at collaborating cross-functionally and with stakeholders at all levels of seniority
Able to handle sensitive and confidential employee information with discretion
Experience with Workday a plus
Knowledge of visa and immigration rules and requirements preferred
This is an in-office role based in Austin, Texas
