We are seeking a qualified National Vendor Management Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for recruiting, onboarding, and training vendors in local markets to support Real Estate Operations across The Amherst Group. This position will be located in, or travel as necessary to local markets to work with Construction team members and vendors to meet the needs of the business. You will play a critical role building relationships with vendors and construction team members. This role will report to Vendor Management leadership in Austin, TX. Other tasks you will work on include but are not limited to:

Job Duties:

  • Source, recruit, & onboard vendors

  • Negotiate pricing with vendors & explain product specifications / programs

  • Foster positive working relationships with our vendors

  • Resolve issues within the vendor network to improve relational standing

  • Make effective use of technology to achieve results

  • Travel to markets to source vendors and build relationships with vendors & internal customers

  • Host vendor recruiting events and meetings

  • Train newly onboarded vendors on MSR Purchasing Programs and Job Management software


What you’ll need to have:

  • This individual likely has 3+ years of overall business experience and is experienced with concepts related to vendor management, supply chain, or procurement functions within a Services-Based environment.

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is preferred

  • Negotiation, vendor, or construction experience is a plus

  • Uses cost-benefit thinking to set priorities.

  • Technology Management: Makes effective use of technology to achieve results

  • Ability to identify problems and develop solutions

  • Ability to perform within timelines and other constraints

  • Anticipate and meet the needs of both internal and external customers. Deliver high-quality service; is committed to continuous improvement

  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment

  • Ability to travel
