Ascension is HIRING a Senior Director - Strategy. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with significant strategy experience! This is a FULLY REMOTE position.
We are transitioning to shift from an Ascension Strategic Direction to an Ascension-wide Strategic Plan/Roadmap that clarifies our 2025 destination and drives focus and investment moving
forward. Have you created a strategic national vision and roadmap?
What You Will Do
Responsibilites:
Direct the delivery of the Strategy Ministry Wide Function's responsibilities across Ministry Markets and serve as a subject matter expert in the areas of ambulatory, service line and business planning.

  • Oversee execution and performance management of strategic initiatives, including establishing the process and cadence for performance
    • As examples, Integrated Strategic, Operational, and Financial Plan process and management, capital allocation process, peer reviews, quarterly operating reviews, etc.
  • Support Ministry-Market strategic development, including aligning and cascading the Ascension integrated plan
  • Thought partner and strategic support for Operations and Market CSOs. As examples:
    • Market Assessments
    • Strategic Capital Planning
    • Business Development modeling
    • Growth Council establishment
    • Continuity of Care prioritization, implementation and accountability
    • Strategic Partnership evaluation and establishment
  • Partner with Ministry Market Chief Strategy Officers to develop three to five-year strategic plans.
  • Support Ministry Market leaders in the development of growth strategies, including major capital project business plans.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to Ministry Market Chief Strategy Officers in merger and acquisition discussions.
  • Support activities to advance the organization's strategic development, including the ongoing implementation of core initiatives and new models.


Work Experience:

  • Experience leading strategic planning, developing and cascading integrated, actionable and measurable plans as well as utilizing/building data analytics and forecasting to inform recommendations
  • Demonstrated ability to assess portfolio gaps and make recommendations on gap closure to optimize performance & outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a team effectively, inspire others while holding them accountable for results (without direct line of authority)
  • Demonstrated ability to encourage and navigate different perspectives
  • Experience developing strategic plans, utilizing data analytics and forecasting to inform recommendations
  • Proactively identifies areas of opportunity based on market trends, performance against key KPIs, etc. and facilitates recommendations on next steps
  • Ability to be a thought leader to adapt to an agile culture
  • Ability to build relationships across all stakeholder groups as well as navigate different perspectives
  • Demonstrated ability to collaboratively influence with an orientation towards action.


What You Will Need
Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Master's degree preferred.


Work Experience:

  • 7 years of experience required.
  • 10 years of experience preferred.
  • 5 years of leadership or management experience preferred.
