POSITION SUMMARY:

We are looking for an Environmental, Health and Safety leader who thrives in a dynamic growth environment. This role will support Environmental Health and Safety requirements for Invitae’s national and international Corporate Real Estate Portfolio. This role will also collaborate with internal, external partners and agencies to monitor injuries, illnesses, pandemics, and incidents related performance globally.

The ideal candidate will have a consistent track record of achieving results and will support their team through forward-looking plans, effective communication, freedom with accountability, and personal development opportunities.

The purpose of this position is to implement and manage HSE (Health, Environmental and Safety) programs globally relative to a national and international corporate portfolio.

This position is remote, but will entail 25% to 30% travel to Invitae's sites in San Fransico, CA, Boulder, CO, Morrisville, NC and Metro Park, NJ. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor’s injuries, illnesses, pandemics, and incidents related performance Globally.
  • Monitor’s performance for trends or other indicators of improving or degrading incident performance and develop and implement strategic solutions that will improve the performance results as required.
  • Collaborate with Risk Management and Lab Operations to support Business Continuity Plans.
  • Acts as a resource to staff and executive level management as the HSE (Health, Safety and Environmental) Subject Matter Expert.
  • Interact with and responds to regulatory agencies and or compliance officers.
  • Provide direct, timely advice and information to the management responsible for EHS Reporting.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • To perform this job successfully, you must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. The individual must be able create and implement sustainable program development & deployment of (policy, standards, administrative & engineering controls, etc.)
  • Obtain external benchmarking information and perform program audits for effectiveness. Must formally consult with key stakeholders for feedback to assist with meeting and exceeding overall company goals and objectives. Coach and develop team and champion integrated systems evaluation & implementation. Develop leading/lagging/in-process systems performance management

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in HSE from a four-year college and/or a minimum of 10 years of related experience. Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local health and safety, and environmental regulations is essential.
  • Direct experience dealing with regulatory agencies and/or compliance officers is preferred. Experience working in manufacturing, construction, and/or facility maintenance in a Life Science environment is preferred.


CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES:

As required by local authority (if required).

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Material.
