The Team
The Customer Experience team is responsible for all things end-user, with the primary focus of ensuring students and tutors receive the support they need to be successful.
The Role
We're looking for our first Full-Time Writing Specialist to oversee all aspects of writing tutoring, including tutor recruitment, onboarding, continuous education, and improving our writing lab to ensure positive student outcomes.
What You'll Do

• Recruit, onboard, and supervise independent contractor Writing tutors, vetting them with writing-specific assessments
• Oversee and improve Writing Tutor orientation, policies and procedures, and any other issues to ensure positive student outcomes
• Give exemplary support to tutors and students with issues brought to the department through various inbound avenues
• Cultivate and grow an ongoing Writing Tutor education program to ensure Writing Tutors are up to date with all required knowledge to help students improve their writing skills
• Facilitate quality assurance of asynchronous writing labs and live writing lessons
• Maintain a deep understanding of the customer experience by identifying and resolving potential issues before they become larger problems
• Collaborate with the Product team on enhancements to the Writing Lab functionality and processes
• Monitor current research and trends in academic writing and writing center studies and apply that knowledge and research to improving and updating the Writing Lab experience and live Writing tutoring
• Cultivate content in our resource library that helps Writing tutors keep up to speed with trends and research

Who You Are

• Bachelor's degree in Composition, Writing Studies, English Education, or a related field
• 3+ years working as a Tutor in a writing center or related academic support organization REQUIRED
• 5+ years of experience as an educator in Writing, English, Literature (or related subject) at the K-12 level desired
• Experience with program development and gathering and presenting data and information to stakeholders
• Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities, initiative, and both written and spoken communication strategies
• Superb writing skills across diverse fields and for variety of audiences, and experience with practical writing, personal statements, and resume writing
• Experience working in writing centers, writing labs, or related academic support services, or helping with writing program outreach efforts
• Experience providing writing support to multilingual or non-native English speaking students
• Bonus: Master's degree in Composition, Writing Studies, English Education, or a related field
