Main Purpose

The Payroll Clerk - Data Entry supports the payroll team by entering and updating payroll-related data with accuracy and timeliness. This role is essential in maintaining up-to-date records for payroll processing, assisting with garnishments, and ensuring accurate year-end payroll activities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of handling confidential information with discretion.

This is a short-term position which will last a minimum of four weeks, with potential for extension. 

This position is onsite in Austin, TX (at The Domain), five days per week, with the option to work from home on Thursdays. 

Qualifications & Skills

  • 1–2 years of payroll, data entry, or administrative experience
  • Strong typing skills and computer literacy
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and meet deadlines
  • Experience working with payroll systems and Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Enter and update payroll data in internal systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Process and monitor wage garnishment orders in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Assist with maintaining payroll records, including changes to employee information, deductions, and direct deposit details
  • Support year-end payroll processes with timely and accurate data entry
  • Provide general administrative support to the payroll team as needed
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries with professionalism and a focus on customer service
  • Reconcile data and assist in resolving discrepancies
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee payroll and personal information

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Workday, Worklio)
  • Familiarity with garnishment processing or multi-state payroll environments
  • Experience in a staffing or hourly workforce environment

Work Environment
This job operates in a hybrid remote / professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment to complete daily responsibilities and duties. If working in a remote office environment, a clean, designated workspace must be kept in a safe condition, free from hazards to both the employee and the equipment. Remote office positions also require reliable, high-speed internet.

The employee is required to sit or stand at a desk indoors for most of the day; and is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
Full-Time Position. Hours are Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
