The Whole Foods Market E-Commerce Business team is looking for an experienced Principal Product Manager who also wants to bring their expertise and passion for technology to drive innovation and support Whole Food Market’s strategic vision.

We are looking for a product thinker who obsesses over customers, earns trust with stakeholders, dives deep into business metrics and processes, and consistently delivers results. Stakeholder management will be a critical achievement in this role. Success in this role requires you to build strong relationships and deliver results through partner teams, including Whole Foods Market global and regional teams, and Amazon business, operations and technical teams.

Ecommerce Product Managers own key product initiatives for critical inputs to Whole Foods Market’s ecommerce channels such as catalog, selection and inventory. They own definition, planning, and delivery of capabilities and features to improve customer experience, business processes, and operational efficiency within the ecommerce channel.

Responsibilities: 

  • Leads the definition and build out of complex product initiatives in support of business operations for the ecommerce channel

  • Develops long-term product vision and roadmap, ensuring development plans align with and support business objectives

  • Owns the translation of business intent, customer needs, and/or technical direction into clear, concise, well-documented product documentation including vision documents, planning documents and business requirements documents

  • Recommends and builds business cases to support the prioritization of new features, functionality and integrations to enable ecommerce business strategies

  • Influences strategic thinking across the organization to ensure cross-functional collaboration and integration

  • As an individual contributor, influences stakeholders through use of data and logic

  • Tracks industry trends and the competitive landscape for technical and process changes and advances/innovations

  • Provides inputs to financial models for new candidate initiatives and features; analyzes customer behavior, metrics and other organizational inputs to identify business value and impact of proposed roadmap

  • Develops deep, credible relationships with internal and external stakeholders, both inside and outside current areas of responsibility.

Qualifications: 

  • BA/BS degree and 6-8 years of experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience with strong analytical and data-driven track record 

  • MBA, Master’s degree, or higher in a business or related field preferred 

  • 2+ years working with cross-functional teams, including engineers, operators, and/or data analysts 

  • Experience within a large program delivery or grocery business area a plus  

  • Advanced knowledge of and experience with software development methodologies 

  • Advanced knowledge of complex technical and integration architecture patterns 

  • Demonstrated understanding of techniques, tools and methodologies of modern product definition and development

  • Ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders  

  • Advanced analytical skills with a knack for interpreting trends and data and making informed projections/assertions 

  • Demonstrated ability to learn multiple functional areas of the business (engineering, finance, merchandising, and/or marketing)

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and levels of tact, diplomacy and confidentiality; proficiency to communicate effectively and engage with internal and external audiences, including senior management 

  • Demonstrated ability to influence change in a decentralized work environment 

  • Aptitude to make decisions in a fast-paced, changing environment and anticipate future needs 

  • Experience managing a portfolio of products and programs simultaneously, under time constraints Willingness to travel as needed
