Principal Product Manager - Investment & Wealth Solutions

Role Summary:

We are a growing community of builders, contributing to the next generation of real estate with accessibility, transparency, and social responsibility. Our Product Management team is not just seeking passionate builders but fellow adventure seekers as well. Commercial real estate investing is one of the few remaining industries that’s still discovering the role that technology has to play in it.

As the Principal Product Manager - Investment & Wealth Solutions, you will partner closely with your cross-functional pod and key collaborators to build and scale a new branch of CrowdStreet’s investor offerings, increasing our ability to better service investors with varying degrees of managed and advisory needs By connecting them with the right investment products, in-house expertise and product guidance, investors can make well-informed decisions on becoming equity holders in a portion of a business. Let’s build the future of alternative investments for everyone.

The Success You'll Build: Primary Responsibilities and Impact

You’ll be joining a progressive Product Management team that strives to embody the latest modern product development principles and methodologies – validating our assumptions, delivering value early, and unlocking the full potential power in the Design/Engineering/Product “triad”. You will be the Product counterpart to our Investment & Wealth Solutions department, balancing the importance of short-term wins and long-term strategic planning with Leadership and key collaborators.

Your team will be responsible for launching and implementing product initiatives that grow and scale this early-stage business line. Achieving this will require strong partnerships with the Investment & Wealth Solutions Team, along with Design, Engineering, Data, QA, Legal and Marketing. Meanwhile, you’ll be equipping the Investment & Wealth Solutions Team with the necessary tools to help our customers achieve their investing goals, building one city at a time together with CrowdStreet.

  • Establish a clear vision for the evolution of our managed services and investment products through strong collaboration with the SVP of Investment Wealth & Solutions and other team members, your cross-functional pod, and other key stakeholders.
  • Articulate an inspiring product strategy and roadmap that equips your Designers, Engineers, QA team members and key collaborators with context and empowers them to tactically achieve desired outcomes with efficiency and quality.
  • Rapidly discover, test, and validate assumptions and attractive ideas in order to confirm that requirements are viable, desirable, and feasible.
  • Collaborate with the CTO and VP of Systems Operations & Integrated Solutions to determine the best “buy” and “build” solutions that will unlock the scalability necessary to achieve revenue goals.
  • Contribute to the holistic company strategy and roadmap planning to grow the business and expand strategic partnerships.
  • Collaborate and coordinate shared opportunities with fellow product teams to ensure a cohesive, engaging investor experience.
  • Communicate plans, progress, goals, and challenges to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Exercise qualitative research, quantitative analysis, and strong judgment and instincts to maximize the outcomes of your team.
  • Evangelize a data-driven mindset and “first team” culture within your cross-functional pod.
  • Model a collaborative and constructive culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The Experiences That Will Help You Succeed:

  • 7+ years of product management experience identifying customer needs, prioritizing requests, developing roadmaps, defining requirements, and releasing successful software solutions
  • Desired experience being accountable for the P&L of a product line and managing the trade-offs necessary to balance strategic and tactical pressures to both meet short-term financial objectives while guiding long-term strategic growth
  • Customer-centric mindset, charisma, and empathy necessary to listen actively to a customer’s product needs, ask clarifying questions, and fully understand use cases
  • Has developed a strong process and methods to ruthlessly translate high-level vision and strategy into clear, tactical action items (with and without the help of your cross-functional team)
  • Experience making grounded decisions and difficult trade-offs, tactfully managing limited resources and team/stakeholder expectations to maximize your team’s outcomes
  • Experience conducting research studies using varying methodologies to assess customer needs, identifying strategic differentiators, and determine product development priorities
  • Experience integrating third-party software with in-house applications and technologies

The Competencies You’ll Need:

  • Bias for “getting the job done” now over long-term visioning of possibilities – knowing how to strike that careful balance of fueling the business line’s engine for the longer journey ahead
  • Experience with analyzing and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data to identify clear opportunities
  • Strong empathy and listening skills, able to adapt to different environments and personalities
  • Articulate, concise and inspiring communication skills
  • Strong negotiation and influential skills
  • Experience and comfort managing a large backlog of product requests, defects and strategic initiatives ideally using Jira or a similar tool
  • Hands-on experience in SaaS software development, Agile SDLC  and web technologies
  • BS or MS degree in Business, Computer Science or Engineering

HUGE bonuses:

  • Experience managing products for online B2C FinTech, financial advisory services, private equity or alternative investments, including integration with investment fund operations and administration
  • Experience building up a new product-business line within an organization, fostering it to the point of sustainable growth
  • Experience working with Registered Investment Advisors and Wealth Managers
  • Experience delivering products and solutions around funds, SMAs, and their supporting B2C online channels
