POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Product Development Analyst is a member of the product team who reports directly to the Product Development Manager. This is a salary, exempt position whose primary responsibilities are to ensure seamless execution of development milestones, build, track and follow the progression of all sample orders, create and communicate seasonal working line lists in preparation for Market, and consistently communicate changes, roadblocks, and wins to internal teams. The Product Development Lead will exhibit high levels of efficiency, focus, and quality work. This role follows the development process closely as the product life cycle begins to take form and ensures an accurate and organized flow between Design, Development, Production, and overseas Agency.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sample Order Management
• Build and manage all sample orders and development trackers across all jewelry categories
• Manage development sample communication and tracking with vendors to ensure quality, on time shipments throughout all development sample phases
• Ensure for a complete and timely product hand off from the Technical Development team, while proactively extracting all critical details to add to the development tracker
• Track all sample phases and proactively inform internal departments of delayed ship dates, and communicate reasons for delays as well as solutions
• Enforce sample ship dates according to the Product Development calendar and communicate priorities to our vendors- Is solution oriented when requested ship dates cannot be met
• Maintain and manage all sample documentation organization and accessibility for CFT’s through advanced excel skills
• Reviews, approves, and tracks all Sample Invoices from the vendors, and works closely with accounting to issue payment
• Leads hand off of product information to Production once an assortment is finalized
• Submit vendor placement proposals to Product Development Manager based on sample lead times, on-time delivery, and development capacity.
• Produce seasonal hindsight’s, including total styles sampled, style adoption & total team workload, total costs accrued, presenting risks and opportunities, and reporting on the evolution of the season, up until the final assortment
Market Prep
• Lead quarterly wholesale market prep, timelines and execution
• Assign style numbers based on class, color codes for new materials, and style names
• Partner with Marketing to determine customer facing material names
• Coordinate with internal and external PR teams to place orders for long lead press and gifting needs
Calendar Management
• Owns some product development dates within the Product Lifecycle Calendar; Ensure accuracy, update on a daily basis with any changes, and communicate any risks associated with the shift
• Supports build out and communication of Seasonal Overlap Calendar
• Supports cross functional calendar meeting preparation and proactive communication across applicable teams
• Responsible for scheduling development team milestones and cross functional meetings
• Champion for adherence to all applicable product development dates, and team needs in order to execute on time, and with quality.
Leadership & Vendor Management
• Build strong cross functional partnerships with Design, Technical Development, Production, Vendors and Agent, and intuitively know when to effectively engage teams to support department needs
• Provide productive feedback to vendors and agency when needed, and track downfalls/wins including, but not limited to, lead times and on-time sample delivery, throughout the quarter to aid in the completion of the quarterly vendor scorecards
• Representation of functional area when management is unavailable or traveling
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and build/implement newness
• Helps build and execute daily/weekly priorities with consistent delivery
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
• Intermediate to Advanced Experience with Excel is required. PLM experience is a plus. Must enjoy Excel spreadsheets and manipulating data.
• Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to react quickly in a fast-paced environment.
• Deadline focused and highly organized; Not fazed by complexity, multiple timelines, and competing priorities.
• Exhibits strong levels of problem solving- Ability to identify a problem and implement a solution
• Excited by a challenge, and has the ability to execute projects with little to no direction
• Comfortable communicating opportunities, risks, changes, and needs to both internal and external cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrates flex communication style that can be catered to different team personalities
• Works both independently and well with others, and is able to develop and maintain relationships with cross functional partners
• Experience developing, implementing and communicating new processes and tools
• Broad knowledge of retail product development, technical design, and manufacturing processes
• Experience working with domestic and overseas vendors as well as third party agencies
• 3-4 years’ experience in multi category Product Development; Jewelry, Accessories, Home Goods, or Beauty experience is a plus
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a Business, Design, Product Development, Fashion Merchandising, or related degree
