About Us

At Cloudflare, we have our eyes set on an ambitious goal: to help build a better Internet. Today the company runs one of the world’s largest networks that powers trillions of requests per month. Cloudflare protects and accelerates any Internet application online without adding hardware, installing software, or changing a line of code. Internet properties powered by Cloudflare have all web traffic routed through its intelligent global network, which gets smarter with every request. As a result, they see significant improvement in performance and a decrease in spam and other attacks. Cloudflare was recognized by the World Economic Forum as a Technology Pioneer and named to Entrepreneur Magazine’s Top Company Cultures list.

We realize people do not fit into neat boxes. We are looking for curious and empathetic individuals who are committed to developing themselves and learning new skills, and we are ready to help you do that. We cannot complete our mission without building a diverse and inclusive team. We hire the best people based on an evaluation of their potential and support them throughout their time at Cloudflare. Come join us!

About the Department and Role

Cloudflare helps to build the future of the Internet, this role is all about making that a reality for the billions of consumers who use the Internet every day. Our first consumer-facing product is 1.1.1.1 with WARP, a mobile app which makes your Internet connection safer and more private. Nearly a million people entered the waiting list for WARP, and millions now have the app installed. As we write this, 1.1.1.1 is the seventh most popular utility app on the iOS App Store, and is rising.

The Internet was built to solve very different problems than it is confronted with today. 1.1.1.1 with WARP is our chance to reengineer things from the ground up, giving users the performance, privacy, and security which they deserve in a form they can actually understand. By controlling a user’s entire Internet experience from their device up we can build things which have never been possible before. When you improve 1.1.1.1 you are improving the Internet.

1.1.1.1 with WARP is developed within our Product Strategy division. Product Strategy is where new, bold, products are built and released within Cloudflare. Rather than being constrained by the structures which make Cloudflare a massively successful business, we are able to leverage them to deliver entirely new tools and products to our customers. Cloudflare’s network makes it possible to solve problems at massive scale and efficiency which would be impossible for almost any other organization.

What you'll do

You will own the 1.1.1.1 app and the experience of its millions of users. This role requires a strong understanding of both the Internet and consumer behavior. In building a product for the mass market you will have to make aggressive feature trade-offs, understand complex technical constraints, and deliver products which can operate at a massive scale with minimal resources. It also demands organization and attention to detail to see that we execute at the high level expected of this team. It is very well suited to those with experience working in or founding early-stage companies, or those interested in developing those skills.

An excellent candidate will have an exceptional understanding of engineering, design, or product, and a deep desire to learn. They will communicate with grace and empathy inside and outside of the organization.

Examples of desirable skills, knowledge and experience

Ideally you have:

  • 3+ years of experience building software for mobile devices
  • The ability to work in a fast-moving and ever-changing environment
  • Experience working with customers, engineers, and designers
  • Exceptional people skills and empathy
  • Excellent command of the English language
  • A high degree of attention to detail
  • A deep understanding of technical subjects and the internet
  • A kind and generous attitude towards customers and co-workers alike
  • A desire to receive feedback and grow

Responsibilities

This is a very self-directed role where you will be expected to own a product vision, direction, and day-to-day growth. You will be expected to:

  • Act as front-line support for the product, answering customer tickets and resolving issues
  • Help craft a bold vision for the future of the Internet
  • Communicate with peers, leadership, and customers
  • Organize and triage features and issues
  • Manage a product roadmap and its translation to revenue
  • Make decisions and own outcomes
  • Work alongside an engineering team to execute on the product vision

1.1.1.1 gets a large volume of support requests. As the product moves through its initial phases of release you will be expected to answer many of those customer tickets directly, helping the engineering and design teams to quickly resolve issues. Over time you will work to develop the processes necessary to graduate that process to the larger customer support team.

What Makes Cloudflare Special?

We’re not just a highly ambitious, large-scale technology company. We’re a highly ambitious, large-scale technology company with a soul. Fundamental to our mission to help build a better Internet is protecting the free and open Internet.

Project Galileo: We equip politically and artistically important organizations and journalists with powerful tools to defend themselves against attacks that would otherwise censor their work, technology already used by Cloudflare’s enterprise customers--at no cost.

Project Athenian: We created Athenian Project to ensure that state and local governments have the highest level of protection and reliability for free, so that their constituents have access to election information and voter registration.

Path Forward Partnership: Since 2016, we have partnered with Path Forward, a nonprofit organization, to create 16-week positions for mid-career professionals who want to get back to the workplace after taking time off to care for a child, parent, or loved one.

1.1.1.1: We released 1.1.1.1 to help fix the foundation of the Internet by building a faster, more secure and privacy-centric public DNS resolver. This is available publicly for everyone to use - it is the first consumer-focused service Cloudflare has ever released. Here’s the deal - we don’t store client IP addresses never, ever. We will continue to abide by our privacy policy and ensure that no user data is sold to advertisers or used to target consumers.

Sound like something you’d like to be a part of? We’d love to hear from you!
