Product Manager (Device Authentication) - Duo Security
Duo Security, now part of Cisco, is the leading multi-factor authentication (MFA) and secure access provider.
Duo + Cisco = Disco
With the Most Loved Company in Security and the global leader in network technology joining forces, there are more exciting opportunities than ever to be at the forefront of securing the cloud.
Our mission is simple: democratize security by making it easy and effective for everyone. We're transforming security from the ground up by solving the world's most pressing geopolitical challenge - safe, secure information access. We engineer our business to enable our customers to easily address their ever-evolving security challenges.
We believe that impactful work is rewarding work and that our team is at its best when everyone feels empowered to bring their whole self to work. We learn together by hiring for cultural contribution, not cultural fit, and recognize that diversity in background and thought are essential to building high-impact teams.
We invest in growth and learning opportunities and encourage our people to never stop learning. We foster collaboration and believe in being recognized (and rewarded!) for hard work. We champion a healthy work-life balance. We're kinder than necessary.
Together we build for the future by designing simple solutions for complex problems. And that's why we're the most loved and trusted name in security.
What you'll do...
As the Product Manager for Device Authentication, you will be responsible for enabling Duo Security customers to secure and simplify user authentication on Windows, Apple and Google platforms. You will take ownership of critical local endpoint integrations, including Microsoft integrations like Windows, OWA, and ADFS, which are major integrations for Duo customers in terms of installation and unique users. You'll bring institutional knowledge of how Microsoft, Apple and Google endpoint technologies work and new opportunities for us to forge ahead and grow our customer base. In this role, you will partner with engineering, design, customer success, sales, and senior management to execute on your vision.
In this role, you will empathize with enterprise organizations that must deploy strong authentication methods to a variety of users: ranging from high-trust critical devops engineers and executives to low-trust transient staff and contractors. Your products must meet the diverse needs of organizations big and small to scale up and prevent breach.
Your key responsibilities include:
  • Create a product vision and roadmap for Duo's device authentication capabilities
  • Collaborate with developers, support and product managers to understand problems, capture new ideas and systematically prioritize the most important projects based on business needs.
  • Interview customers to understand the device authentication problems that they have and deeply understand the context of their use case.
  • Build and maintain a prioritization framework for device authentication related capabilities based on measurable inputs and objective data.
  • Produce concise business case documents, presentations and product requirements documents (PRD) that describes the cost, benefit and tradeoffs to enable effective decision making.
  • Own cross-functional interactions for your area of the product including Sales, Customer Success and Support.

Product Managers play a highly visible role in the company and are critical to the development and execution of the product strategy. We are responsible for delivering the best experience for our users. As the product expert, you must excel at prioritization, collaboration, and communication, while being accountable for scalability, availability and quality.
Skills you have...
  • 2+ years of product management experience working directly with engineering teams to plan, develop and deliver multi-tenant SaaS software products
  • Real world experience developing and launching products for enterprise markets
  • Relevant experience in IT security and an understanding of the problems IT Administrators face, either by direct work experience or by building products that IT Administrators use.
  • Hands-on knowledge of how enterprises deploy, manage, and secure Microsoft Windows, Windows Server, ADFS, Azure AD, OWA, MacOS, and ChromeOS
  • Track record of defining product success metrics and prioritizing feature development
  • Ability to use data to drive decision making while managing requests from different groups of stakeholders.
  • Excellent presentation and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate positioning and technology to technical, sales and executive audiences

Reasons why you should apply...
  • You possess a highly driven and entrepreneurial personality, with an ability to get stuff done while having a sharp mind and eye for detail.
  • You love living on the frontier of the cutting edge and inspire by creating pictures and plans for the future.
  • You are comfortable initiating and managing necessary change and work effectively and efficiently through others.
  • You see potential in human diversity and build bridges between different cultures and experiences to help others work together.
  • You're motivated by being an expert in your field and excel at working across diverse stakeholders, providing clarity through focus and direction.

This job may not be for you if...
  • If the pace of a fast-moving, growth-phase company makes you uncomfortable, or if you need well-established policies and procedures to drive results, this might not be the best role for you.
  • If you are uncomfortable communicating with various stakeholders, on an ongoing basis, to keep the customer perspective and share it with your peers!

Does this sound like it was written for you?
Excellent! Please apply and let's explore this together.

An Insider's view of Duo Security

How does your team reward individual success?

It can be as quick as some karma in Slack. We do team appreciations at the start of team meetings and Cisco has connected recognition which allows individuals to recognize the great work someone has done along with a monetary award, from $25 on up! We also celebrate life with team members, for example throwing a virtual baby shower!

Hector

Senior Engineering Manager

What's the biggest problem your team is solving?

Our cross-functional team of data scientists, software engineers, and designers, as well as product and security experts is building an intuitive adaptive authentication system. We’re moving past basic rule-based approaches to create a dynamic experience that people will love for keeping them secure while staying unobtrusive.

Brian

Head of Data Science and Engineering

What are some things you learned at the company?

Early on, I thought that success in the security industry was attributed solely to people's ideas or intellect. Since then, I've learned that the most important thing to have in any industry is empathy. Without empathy, you can't build a product that people will love or a place that people will want to work. Empathy is a foundation for success.

Olabode

Senior Data Scientist

What is your vision for the company?

My overall vision is to provide mechanisms for the business to build simple, safe and secure products that our customers and partners intrinsically trust. It is my belief that when we empower our teams and stakeholders to creatively work together instead of falling on process and procedure for the sake of it, our creativity opens to new heights.

Amanda

Head of Product Security

What makes someone successful on your team?

Success for us is taking the road less traveled to achieve better results, meaning we look for teammates who bring perspectives from all walks of life and who are not afraid to use their voice. We believe this combination results in good outcomes because we end up paving our path to success with a diversity of thought.
