About Care.com

Care.com is a consumer tech company with heart. We’re on a mission to solve a human challenge we all face: finding phenomenal care for the ones we love. We’re moms and dads and pet parents. We have parents and grandparents, so we understand that everyone, at some point in their lives, could use a helping hand. Our culture and our products reflect that.

Here, entrepreneurs, self-starters, team players, and big thinkers unite behind a common cause. Here, we’re applying data analytics, AI, and the latest technologies to solve universal problems and connect people in new ways. If you like having autonomy, if you thrive on collaboration and building new things, and if you’re all about using your talent for good, Care.com is the place for you.

What Your Days Will be Like:

The ideal Product Manager should be data-driven, detail-oriented, and act with a sense of curiosity and urgency. He or she can intuitively understand customer needs and successfully empower teams to solve customer problems. She or he should be flexible and able to jump from crafting a product vision to immersing themselves in the implementation details. Lastly, the ideal candidate will be collaborative, facilitating cross-functional alignment and decision making. You will:

  • Talk to customers and other "voice of the customer" stakeholders to understand needs and identify problems
  • Define near- and mid-term product roadmaps, set goals using OKRs
  • Write, review and update product requirements, test cases, and related documentation
  • Meet with the tech lead and other engineering team members to supervise development status and address any issues
  • Meet with design/UX team members to share objectives and to collaborate on user experience
  • Meet with the program manager to coordinate projects with larger, organization-wide goals and timelines
  • Review and analyze the latest KPIs for active products under your purview

What You'll Be Working On:

In this role, you will be a Product Manager for our Supply and Operations team — the products and systems that enable our relationships with care providers in the Care.com ecosystem. Care providers on our site include individual caregivers (for both child care and senior care), daycare centers, senior assisted living centers, preschools, housekeeping services, kids activity providers, tutors, and more.

This role focuses on individual caregivers, ensuring that they can easily join our site, become background checked to ensure safety, convey their skills and experience through their profile, search for job posts, connect with care seekers, and ultimately land a caregiving job. Our individual caregiver products serve multiple verticals and user experiences within care.com. This PM will have day-to-day interactions with other product managers on the core provider team, as well as development, design, program management, and occasionally other cross-functional groups including BI, support, marketing, and legal teams. This role is a good fit for someone interested in a mix of both front-end user experience and back-end product work, and for someone that wants to work on part of the core marketplace for the company.

Supply & Operations is a relatively new organization within Care.com that is both well-resourced and a high priority for the company as a whole. We are launching new, revenue-generating products, as well as maintaining and/or transitioning from legacy products. You’ll have a lot of responsibility and be encouraged to move quickly. We know this can be cliché, but it truly is an entrepreneurial, start-up-like environment within a larger company.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in product management or in an engineering role that had significant product management responsibilities. Regardless, you should be comfortable and proficient in collaborating closely with technical teams. Note the position will be leveled as "Associate Product Manager" or "Product Manager" depending on the candidate’s level of experience.
  • Ownership of metrics. This means developing and executing on a roadmap and defining and measuring success based on data.
  • Guiding an agile, cross-functional product development team during the full lifecycle of development.
  • Working with partners to understand product requirements and ensure successful product launches.
  • You should be self-motivated, self-directed, and highly detail-oriented, without the need for a lot of direct supervision. We are a relatively small team of product managers and operate in a fast-paced, start-up-like environment.
  • The engineering teams you have worked with used modern development tools and frameworks, e.g., REST, GraphQL, Amazon Lamdas, Kafka event streams, and micro-services, to deliver cross-platform solutions to multiple user-facing endpoints.
  • Experience working for a tech company, preferably a marketplace, one that facilitates online-to-offline activity, or another business where supply/demand dynamics are essential.
  • Experience developing product requirements and user interfaces.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, solve complex problems, and produce high-quality results.
  • Proven ability to work with data science teams to inform product and solve user problems more efficiently
  • Experience discovering and solving customer problems while keeping the broader business perspective in mind.
