The Senior Buyer acts as the primary liaison between design, production, marketing, and eCommerce.


The Senior Buyer is responsible for developing profitable lines of products by creating a financially based product plan, researching competitors and anticipating customer needs. Work directly with the Director of Operations & Strategy to develop strategies and manage sales to achieve planned business results. The Sr. Buyer will partner with the Jr. Buyer on the running of the day-to-day business. They leverage organizational and analytical skills, as well an eye for relevant trends, to support the brand and the achievement of financial goals.

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Included but not limited to:

  • Present overall trend direction each season including research analysis summary, key items identified
  • Develop strategy, product, assortment plans, pricing by analysis of past business, shopping market, and other eCommerce stores, and determine assortment by season
  • Interact daily with Creative, eCommerce, and Global Sourcing/Domestic Vendors to coordinate merchandising objectives and support cross collaboration
  • Develop new product lines according to the brand positioning, source piece goods, negotiate costs to meet margins/IMU goals, ensure of quality standards, and use our fabric/materials base to improve service levels
  • Evaluate competition and monitor mega-trends to provide direction to teams
  • Execute and monitor progress of merchandising plans and adherence to seasonal planning calendar
  • Spearhead addition of new programs/changes to existing programs
  • Finalize spec details, trims, deliveries, and any special needs as required by Sales and Customers
  • Work with internal departments to execute changes in a fiscally responsible manner
  • Manage sample expectation with merch/tech team, ensuring they are approved and comments are sent within a timely manner for all team members internally and/or globally
  • Build framework to support strategies -- Identify opportunities for growth/decline in prog/cc and product/classification opportunities
  • Deliver Customer Satisfaction

REQUIREMENTS:

Must Meet Qualifications to be Considered

  • BA in Fashion Design or Merchandising or equivalent work experience (4yrs work experience = 1 year University)
  • Min. 6+ years of retail buying/ merchandising experience
  • Strong fashion sense with a pulse on brand and customer needs
  • Problem solving and resolution-oriented with the ability to lead through clear and consistent actions
  • Ability to influence in a cross-functional team environment
  • Excellent organizational ability to facilitate multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
  • A trained eye for the elements of design: i.e. color, proportion, and balance as well as aesthetic detail
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Multitask, highly motivated, passionate, positive, and strong work and team ethics
  • Detail-oriented with excellent follow-through.
  • Proficiency in computer skills: Netsuite, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Outlook, Excel, and Word
