Summary:
BigCommerce, a 2020 "Best Place to Work", is seeking an Senior Product Manager to join our Austin Downtown office. In this exciting position you will focus on Security and Compliance by leading platform improvements in the areas of cybersecurity, data safeguards, and relevant compliance regulations. This role will work closely with the rest of the Product & Engineering team, our Security & Legal teams, Product Marketing, and our Sales Team.

What you’ll do:
- Define the product strategy/vision for one or a few product domain areas.
- Lead large strategic initiatives working with the entire product team, design and engineering team.
- Set the product roadmap for large strategic initiatives, effectively defining phases for delivering business value to the customer early and often.
- Guide and mentor more junior Product Managers.
- Enthusiastically lead your team, consisting of developers, designers, and quality engineers, towards your vision with effective delivery.
- Gathering requirements from stakeholders (organization of process of gathering requirements; always be in-touch with Security, Legal, Sales, Support, Customers, and other Product Managers within the company)
- Define and communicate business outcomes and performance metrics to key stakeholders throughout the organization.
- Preparing comprehensive description of Epics and Stories for the development teams
- Working with the Design team to prototype new features
- Validating new functionality with customers before development.
- Work collaboratively with your team to break complex projects into small projects, with each iteration adding more customer value.
- Explain to the development team(s) all details of stories before/during development (ownership of the planning, backlog refinement meetings etc.)
- Provide feedback after testing of stories which were specified by yourself.
- Demo new functionality to the stakeholders, the organization and customers.
- Analyze the entire product and propose ways to improve it.
- Manage the product backlog and sprint backlog in Jira. Make it clear and up-to-date.
- Analyze data to measure the impact of product improvements, and then iterate to constantly optimize performance.
Who you are:
Education
- Master degree or higher (in Computer Science or similar, desirable).
Specialized Knowledge
- Master degree or higher (in Computer Science or similar, desirable).
- Clear understanding of principles and specifics of software development methodologies.
- Previous experience in eCommerce, PIM or ERP systems, and you understand the needs and trends in B2C and B2B eCommerce space.
- Understanding the principle of building the platform (desirable).
- Strong experience in implementing Scrum & Agile principles for building product.
Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of requirements management tools (at least JIRA & Confluence)
- Strong English verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills to make a critical assessment of the information from numerous sources. Systems thinking and functional decomposition skills.
- Setting clear goals and priorities. Time-management, ability to handle multi-tasking activities. Quick learning.
- High flexibility. Ability to modify approach as per changing conditions, circumstances and feedback.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Professional Certification
- One of the following (desirable): CSPO, CSM, IIBA CCBA or CBAP.
