Director, Product - eCommerce

HomeAway is building a commercial eCommerce platform for the largest vacation rental marketplace in the world. Our platform processes millions of dollars in transactions every single day. We are seeking a leader for our eCommerce product portfolio that has the passion, skills, and experience to drive our eCommerce strategy and grow our bottom line.

The Opportunity:

As Director, Product - eCommerce, you will oversee a team of product managers that are responsible for the following initiatives:

  • Continuously improve our global eCommerce platform and capabilities
  • Increase the choice, reliability and safety of our eCommerce solutions
  • Provide owners with payment options and reporting tools that help them run their business more efficiently and effectively
  • Optimize conversion by enabling cost-effective consumer payment methods, with a focus in emerging economies
  • Use proven risk management technologies to prevent fraud and build trust in the marketplace
  • Implement systems to ensure tax compliance in thousands of jurisdictions
  • Publish real-time events to enable a better a customer experience, traffic acquisition, revenue management, financial reporting and compliance

Functions:

  • Partner with the general manager of HomeAway's payments business in identifying commercial opportunities
  • Collaborate with teams from HomeAway and Expedia to develop, communicate and execute the eCommerce vision, strategy and roadmap
  • Manage and develop a growing team of high-performing product managers
  • Lead product / policy decisions and issue resolutions that a) require cross-team participation, b) are raised by product teams, and / or c) impact strategic direction and may require executive support or participation
  • Direct tactical planning and drive the agenda that coordinates a group of stakeholders and eCommerce product team leaders during Weekly Operations readouts, Monthly Product Reviews and 120-day Product Planning events
  • Serve as the high-visibility interface for the eCommerce product teams at key customer events
  • Conduct competitive analysis and industry research to identify gaps and opportunities which inform the product roadmap
  • Continuously explore and capitalize on eCommerce opportunities across the Expedia ecosystem
  • Evangelize and practice the test and learn methodology to quickly and efficiently evaluate opportunities to drive business value
  • Foster relationships with key vendors that are critical to our success
  • Ensure projects are clearly defined and phased to optimize delivery of business value
  • Define, track and report on metrics to measure effectiveness and drive improvements

Profile:

  • Required: 3+ years experience as a product leader in a two-sided eCommerce marketplace, managing financial technology products such as global payments, risk management, order management, taxes, etc.
  • 8+ years software product management experience within an agile environment
  • Consistent track record leading multiple complex projects, implementing web-based eCommerce applications, and delivering on schedule
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects that have global impact, stakeholders and deployment in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to prioritize with conviction and communicate decisions effectively
  • High level of initiative and enthusiasm to craft an extraordinary experience for our customers
  • Proficient in using the scientific method to identify and evaluate solutions to business problems
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills, including the ability to present complex concepts to a highly technical and non-technical audience, including C-level executives
  • An undergraduate degree or equivalent in business, computer science or other quantitative domain
