About the role

The VP of Product and Developer Marketing will be responsible for leading all product and developer marketing for Cloudflare, one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing global cloud networks. As a seasoned technical marketing executive, you’ll hire and develop a growing and talented team, while also partnering closely with other Cloudflare leaders (Product, Sales, Comms, etc.) to effectively educate audiences on the value of our ever-growing portfolio of products and solutions. You’ll elevate our core messaging to help build awareness and engagement with the global developer community, given that developers from organizations of all sizes adopt Cloudflare for different use cases. Finally, you will apply your deep experience, knowledge, and understanding of the Internet ecosystem to help communicate the differentiated value of Cloudflare’s capabilities in way that effectively drives our go-to-market and demand generation engines. This role will be a highly visible leadership role within the Cloudflare organization which will have a significant impact on the long-term growth of the fast-growing Cloudflare business.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership for all product and solution messaging, competitive analysis and positioning, product launch management, GTM strategy, sales enablement, and customer insights to inform strategic campaigns that help drive customer acquisition, retention, and expansion.
  • Accelerate our engagement with the developer community.  Educate developers on how Cloudflare addresses many use cases, and help effectively evangelize our serverless (Cloudflare Workers) platform.
  • Hire and lead a team of high performing product and developer marketing leaders and effectively prioritize activity and resources within a demanding high growth company.
  • Lead the company-wide development of product and solution messaging and positioning, including competitive differentiation across all relevant business categories.
  • Partner with other Product and Product Strategy leaders to help drive ongoing adoption of Cloudflare’s products and solutions by connecting the product roadmap with our go-to-marketing strategy.
  • Help external industry analysts view Cloudflare as a leader across different network security, performance, and reliability product categories.
  • Drive high-visibility product launches to demonstrate innovation and ultimately drive new revenue.
  • Lead the development of compelling and easy to understand internally facing content for Sales, Customer Support, Comms, and others including; sales training, positioning, FAQs, and battlecards and more.
  • Partner closely with demand generation functions (acquisition, expansion, partner, pay-as-you-go) to tell compelling stories that help build demand and drive revenue across our offerings and across the customer lifecycle.
  • Help to align our product, solution, and go-to-market messaging with the Cloudflare brand
  • Experience positioning technical products to both technical users and economic decision makers
  • Strong technical depth and ability to learn quickly, balanced with sharp business sense
  • Strong acumen and experience with both highly transactional (self-service), inbound, inside sales models, and mid-market/Enterprise inside and field sales models
  • Excellent collaboration skills and organizational savvy, excelling at both high-level thinking & execution as well as influence and inspire others to achieve a common goal.
  • Allocate resources and budget to efficiently maximize business outcomes

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience leading product and developer marketing at a fast-growing, high profile organization(s)
  • 6+ years experience managing a high-performing team across multiple functions and disciplines
  • Significant experience in B2B technology marketing with a keen understanding of the Internet ecosystem and technical audiences (experience in cybersecurity or Internet-related SaaS business is highly preferred)
  • People-focused leader with proven ability to build creative, collaborative teams; develop people; and link performance to overall business objectives. You've managed teams and have experience as a 'manager of managers'.
  • Experience positioning technical products to both technical users and economic decision makers
  • Strong technical depth and ability to learn quickly, balanced with sharp business sense
  • A track record of delivery on complex projects, using strong organizational skills and ability to influence and work cross-functionally.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. This role demands someone who is gifted in their ability to use the spoken and written word to communicate effectively with all stakeholders, and most importantly, with technically-oriented customers.
  • SaaS/ technical product marketing experience required; leadership experience at a public company preferred.
  • Ability to effectively influence both internal and external stakeholders across all levels of the organization
  • BS/BA degree in Marketing, Business, Engineering, or related field (MBA highly preferred)
