Project Manager, Scrum Master

This individual will be a critical part of the OutboundEngine team. The role reports to the VP Product and will play a critical role in driving new product development and improvements of existing products. This person will be the first of its kind within the company and set up the program management office. This person will ensure delivery team(s) are operating efficiently and effectively with no blockages and will enable the team’s progress to be easily discerned through the use of scrum and other information management tools. The successful candidate will be hands-on and involved in all phases of development, from analysis and requirements to functional design to documentation, testing and implementation. The selected candidate will be involved in multiple initiatives and will work closely with Development & Product Management.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates Agile ceremonies for Delivery team
  • Helps maintain scrum tools (backlog, charts)
  • Removes obstacles and impediments to software development
  • Identifies and fields problems and helps team solve them
  • Identifies and names conflict and helps team solve it. Mediates as needed
  • Brings collaboration skills to the team- a great active listener and coach
  • Shields team from unscheduled external influences
  • Brings communication from the delivery team to the rest of the organization
  • Works closely with the Product Owner, Solution Architect and the Delivery Team
  • Ensures that stakeholders are informed of risks and impacts to the team’s effectiveness
  • Responsible for Scrum Tool management and optimization

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of Scrum Master experience
  • At least 4 years of total experience
  • Prior Project Management experience
  • Experienced in Agile/Scrum methodology, and the development of associated project artifacts
  • Scrum Master Certification desirable
  • Experience in a web based environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • JIRA expertise very beneficial
  • Experienced in facilitating meetings and discussions with external and internal teams
  • Experience working in a software development company/environment
  • Strong advocate for the development team’s priorities and challenges. Will push back on scope-creep and negotiate timelines with the product owner
  • Detail-oriented and ability to manage multiple work efforts with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport and interact effectively with all levels and areas of an organization. The ability to mentor and teach others agile concepts is very desirable
  • Uphold the framework and integrity of scrum practices
  • Mentor and coach the teams on Agile methodology and Scrum values and process
  • Facilitate PI (Program Increment) and sprint planning processes, as well as all other scrum ceremonies, and empower team commitment to PI and sprint delivery
  • Participate in longer term roadmap planning
  • Manage monthly capitalization processes and change management processes
  • Monitor and track PI milestones, and facilitate mitigation of issues and risks
  • Collaborate with the team to identify and resolve problems and remove impediments/barriers for the team; escalate to the RTE as needed
  • Ensure that release deliverables are submitted and that quality standards defined by the team are consistently met (per acceptance criteria and definition of done)
  • Prepare and present PI Performance Reviews
  • Monitor the effectiveness of scrum team processes and performance, and collaborate with the team on changes and improvements
