Responsible for day-to-day construction project activities from smaller re-configurations to full interior build-outs to new store construction and remodels. Coordinates all site activity and field personnel as required to successfully complete projects on time and within budget. Coordinates interaction and engagement of all team members, including architects, engineers, general contractors, industry consultants, and cross-functional team members. Works with Accounting to properly load budgets, track spend, and make payments. Ensures construction projects delivery outcomes of the highest quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates multiple new store development and remodels with construction teams, coordinators, and store Team Leaders.
  • Directs all phases of construction project management, schedule and budget development, planning and design, FF&E procurement, and store move coordination.
  • Acts as support and point person for stores and coordinators through the construction process.
  • Ensures contractual agreements and vendor working relationships are developed, negotiated, and maintained.
  • Supervises and performs construction administration, including contract negotiation, change orders, project schedules, and project closeout documentation.
  • Partners with store leadership to proactively communicate with customer base regarding store changes.

Skills:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of preparing construction budgets and tracking to actual costs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of grocery equipment and fixtures.
  • Ability to work with design consultants to facilitate design development and construction drawings.
  • Able to prepare and guide construction schedules effectively.

  • Strong ability to plan, estimate, organize, and monitor projects.
  • Able to oversee or advise on project management issues and assist with overcoming barriers.
  • Ability to keep multiple projects on track financially, creatively, and in accordance with stakeholder deadlines.
  • Proficient with project management software, such as SharePoint, MS Project, and Basecamp.
  • Communicates structured information in a clear, concise, and organized fashion.

  • Collaborates with others to achieve objectives and ensure information flow.
  • Effectively presents information and responds to questions, in both one-on-one situations and group meetings.
  • Participates in cross-functional projects and provides senior-level support to team.

  • Impacts overall team effectiveness.
  • May provide informal support to less experienced Team Members.
  • Builds and nurtures relationships with senior-level stakeholders and leaders.
  • Applies analytical skills to evaluate and interpret complex situations.
  • Presents problem analyses and recommended solutions in a creative and logical manner.
  • Handles a diverse range of issues requiring evaluation of a variety of factors, including business trends.
  • Analyzes complex and ambiguous problems.
  • Identifies opportunities for process / procedural enhancements to drive efficiency and improve service levels.
  • Understands trends and emerging challenges of the customer base, market, and industry.
  • Applies business and project understanding to focus project / team’s efforts.
  • Demonstrates excellent knowledge of the WFM product mix, supply base, and retail operations.

Education & Experience:

  • BA/BS degree and 4-6 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent education and relevant experience.
