Commercial Counsel - Channel & Customer Success

As our offices re-open, Atlassians can choose to work remotely or return to an office, unless it's necessary for the role to be performed in the office. We're looking for a talented commercial transactions attorney to join our Go-To-Market Legal team! As a member of this team, you will support the Global Channel and Customer Success teams, including drafting and negotiating a variety of partner facing contracts and related matters.

In this role, you'll get to:
- Draft, negotiate and advise on a variety of commercial transactions, with a special focus on global channel sales, enterprise services, and partner program initiatives
- Partner with our Go-To-Market team, Global Chanel and Customer Success teams, as well as our privacy, security, finance and product teams, to drive partner deals to execution and design and support scalable processes for implementation
- Provide pragmatic, business-minded, and creative guidance on contract-related issues. We're not looking for academic analysis!
- Provide guidance and trainings to educate and enable our channel and customer success teams on legal issues.
- Assist with special internal projects, including projects focused on improving legal processes.
- Engage and manage external legal counsel, where needed
- Gain in-depth knowledge of Atlassian products and business model, and help manage risks and identify opportunities
- You offer pragmatic, business-minded support and expertise to the teams you support
- You bring empathy and understanding to your conversations with partners, seeking to find a path forward that balances company risk, partner relationships and customer needs in a respectful and creative way
- You enjoy getting deals done
- You effectively listen and communicate with business teams and partners to help them understand and develop trust in the company
- You influence the entire organization with the work you do
- You have an innovative approach to practicing law
- You have a strong understanding of software technology and cloud services, associated business models, technology industry trends, and privacy developments
- You can effectively navigate a decentralized and complex organization spread across the globe
- JD and admission to at least one state bar
- 5+ years practicing law, with in-house experience preferred but not required
- Ability to handle data privacy topics and understanding revenue recognition and compliance matters in connection with commercial transactions.
- Practical experience and deep understanding of technical transactions and working with technical teams
- Passion to understand our products, customers, culture, and business model
