A day in the life of a Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Leasing Specialist:

The HCV Leasing Specialist is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the Leasing Department, including but not limited to prospect management, application processing, online marketing, and lease fulfillment in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, as well as all company policies and procedures. This is a full-time position and will report to the HCV Leasing Supervisor.

  • Assist Leasing Agents with prospect management by ensuring all prospect information through phone calls and emails are completely entered into the company’s resident management system, scheduling property tours, and utilizing daily/weekly reports to follow-up on all leads

  • Ensure all prospects are properly and efficiently qualified through the application process by collecting all required documentation (Housing Choice Voucher, other HUD documentation, Identification, etc.) prior to screening; screening applicants and requesting exceptions and providing exception documentation when necessary

  • Assist the leasing department with screening/processing Residents-In-Place, requesting exceptions when needed and completing the lease template for a leasing agent and resident to execute

  • Assist the Voucher Coordinator with Housing Choice Voucher applications by collecting necessary documentation needed to verify the voucher and complete Request for Tenancy Approval

 What you’ll need to have:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent

  • 1-2 years prior to leasing administrative experience preferred

  • 1-2 years prior Housing Choice Voucher administrative experience preferred

  • Must have a current and valid driver's license

  • Possesses excellent communication and people skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel and Word; knowledge of prospect and resident management systems is preferred

  • Experience with affordable housing leasing processes is preferred

  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

  • The typical workdays are Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
