When it comes to technical expertise, our exceptional sales engineering team advises customers on innovative solutions. We always go the extra mile to achieve excellence. We are currently seeking a talented person to join our fast-growing sales team as a Technical Sales Engineer, located in Austin, TX.

The sales engineer at relayr has both Pre and Post Sales responsibilities. The distribution of responsibility is approximately Pre-Sales 80% and Post-Sales 20%.

In the Pre-Sales role, you will play a vital part in the sales team. You are responsible for all technical engagements with prospective customers including defining an initial implementation designs, reference architectures, support framework, and product demos. In this role you are in a unique position to understand relayr’s value proposition and key technical benefits. Therefore, you will help interpret a client's technical pain points and translate that into a real-life business transformation proposition supporting key business outcomes.

In the Post-Sales role, you bridge the gap between the sales team and the engineering team as project development begins. You will need to meet regularly with the client and internal development teams where you will be an advocate and voice for client requirements during product development. Additionally, you will work with the relayr account manager to maintain relationships with current clients, addressing their technical needs as well as finding opportunities for expanding new business opportunities.

 

Required skills for this position:

  • 5+ years of experience selling IoT and cloud solutions
  • 3+ years of experience selling XaaS technology to large enterprises
  • 3+ years of experience coordinating technical aspects of large-scale IoT projects
  • 3+ years of experience translating complex problems into market leading real-life technical propositions.
  • 3+ years of experience with cloud platforms (Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure)

 

Desired Skills:

  • Be comfortable engaging and discussing business transformation with a CEO and at the same time capable of describing API data flows on a whiteboard with a client’s software engineers Entrepreneurial spirit
  • Domain expert on IoT products such as sensors, devices, wireless communication, cloud services, and building management systems
  • Have a collaborative mindset and a record of building successful relationships with colleagues and customers
  • Pushing the boundaries to sell ground-breaking technology solutions
  • Broad multidisciplinary understanding of IoT technology stacks
  • Have hands-on experience developing your own IoT projects

It is expected that a candidate will:

  • have a consultative approach towards the customer, using a blend of sales, technical knowledge, and strategic mindset whenever needed
  • have a strong work ethic
  • be proactive in leading pre-sales technical discussions with customers
  • be proactive in providing process, procedure, and product feedback to internal teams
  • be a self-starter who can flourish in a dynamic technology company
  • inspire trust towards the entire business community

How we work: 

  • Our team members primarily work from their home offices as we have a broad geographic distribution of sales executives.
  • We interact daily through a variety of team collaboration tools like Slack, Webex, Google Apps (Docs, Sheets, Slides), Confluence, and Google Drive.
  • With a broad geographic distribution of sales executives, the sales engineer will be required to travel within the United States and internationally to meet with customers.
  • Overall travel could be up to 50% (after COVID-19 restrictions are lifted).
