About Us
At Cloudflare, we have our eyes set on an ambitious goal: to help build a better Internet. Today the company runs one of the world’s largest networks that powers trillions of requests per month. As a result, they see significant improvement in performance and a decrease in spam and other attacks. Cloudflare was recognized by the World Economic Forum as a Technology Pioneer and named to Entrepreneur Magazine’s Top Company Cultures list.

About the Role
Cloudflare’s Special Projects team oversees a wide range of tactical and strategic projects that are critical to the operations and long-term development of Cloudflare—from initiating a partnership with one of China’s largest Internet companies to finding commercial opportunities for new products and technologies. Overall we look for big-picture thinkers who can conduct strategic acquisitions, help manage our partnerships with major cloud providers, and drive Cloudflare’s business strategy and development around the world.
For this role, we are looking for someone to drive our business development and strategic partnerships efforts, based in San Francisco. We are building a thriving ecosystem of partners that improve the value of our products for customers and help partners grow their business at the same time. This role offers an incredible opportunity to make a significant contribution to a high growth company in a rapidly changing space.
The responsibilities include
- This role offers a combination of business development and partnership management responsibilities; you’ll be coming up with new partnership ideas to grow our business while also managing existing strategic partners through their lifecycle
- You’ll develop, negotiate, and close agreements with major new partners and must have the ability to prioritize across various initiatives and potential partners
- You will manage these relationships throughout the partner lifecycle; from discovery, to validation, execution and integration, go-to-market planning and ultimately performance tracking
- You’ll collaborate with internal teams, including product, marketing, and go-to-market teams to evangelize our partnerships and maintain the integrity of our technical integrations
- Many of our partnerships open new sales and marketing opportunities; you’ll be enabling our internal channel sales, sales, customer success and other GTM functions with collateral to ensure they know how to speak about our partners to our customers
- Immediate needs are launching new partnerships for the Magic Transit and Cloudflare for Teams product areas, with several more in flight
- Example initiatives include the Bandwidth Alliance, our Analytics Partnerships Program, and collaboration with Mozilla for a Browser VPN
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in a combination of business development and technology partnerships roles
- 2+ years of consulting experience highly preferred
- Experience working with various partnerships types, i.e. OEMs, resellers, technology partners, and large strategic partners that don’t fit a category
- Strong familiarity with legal agreements, including referral and reseller agreements, technology partner agreements, and custom agreements for large strategic partners
- Track record of building and launching partner programs (vs. individual partnerships); ability to articulate value of a program to the market, including internal teams, customers, and industry analysts
- Experience in the Cloud (SaaS/PaaS/IaaS) and/or Security (DDoS mitigations, firewalls) ecosystems
- Passion for building technology-driven partnerships that help Cloudflare innovate and better our customers’ experience with Cloudflare
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred
- Role will be based in San Francisco
What Makes Cloudflare Special?
We’re not just a highly ambitious, large-scale technology company. We’re a highly ambitious, large-scale technology company with a soul. Fundamental to our mission to help build a better Internet is protecting the free and open Internet.
Project Galileo: We equip politically and artistically important organizations and journalists with powerful tools to defend themselves against attacks that would otherwise censor their work, technology already used by Cloudflare’s enterprise customers--at no cost.
Athenian Project: We created Athenian Project to ensure that state and local governments have the highest level of protection and reliability for free, so that their constituents have access to election information and voter registration.
Path Forward Partnership: Since 2016, we have partnered with Path Forward, a nonprofit organization, to create 16-week positions for mid-career professionals who want to get back to the workplace after taking time off to care for a child, parent, or loved one.
1.1.1.1: We released 1.1.1.1 to help fix the foundation of the Internet by building a faster, more secure and privacy-centric public DNS resolver. This is available publicly for everyone to use - it is the first consumer-focused service Cloudflare has ever released. Here’s the deal - we don’t store client IP addresses never, ever. We will continue to abide by our privacy policy and ensure that no user data is sold to advertisers or used to target consumers.
Sound like something you’d like to be a part of? We’d love to hear from you!
